   Avoid at All Costs – Completely Unreliable and Unprofessional I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Proactive Cleaners, and I feel compelled to warn others before they make the same mistake. This company is anything but “proactive” — in fact, they were consistently late, disorganized, and made up excuse after excuse to cover their complete lack of professionalism. We hired Proactive Cleaners for a property clearance job between tenancies. The scope of work was made very clear: remove 4 large sofas, lift and dispose of approx. 75m² of carpet, and take away some loose materials and general rubbish. We even provided photographs to avoid any ambiguity. We were told a team would arrive at the property on Sunday 24th August at 9:00 AM. We arrived at 8:30 AM to be ready for them. By 9:15 AM — still no sign of them. We started calling the office. After several attempts, we were told at 9:45 AM the team was “30 minutes away” due to traffic. Let’s be clear — this was Sunday morning of a bank holiday weekend. Roads were empty. “Traffic” was just the first of many lies. Fast-forward to 11:15 AM — still no one had arrived. After 8–10 phone calls, we were told the vehicle had a “hazard onboard” and that was delaying them. Moments later, the excuse changed again: now the “team had called in sick.” That’s three completely different stories within two hours. Eventually, we were offered a refund, but as we needed the work done urgently, we agreed to reschedule for Tuesday 26th August at 4:00 PM. This is where it gets even more farcical. We arrived at the property at 3:45 PM and were pleasantly surprised to see a single team member already there. But our relief quickly vanished — he had no idea what he was supposed to do. After showing him around, he admitted he couldn’t handle the job alone and immediately called for backup. Then I received yet another call from Jade at Proactive Cleaners, this time claiming the job was underestimated — and that removing glued-down carpets would cost extra. I reminded her that we had explicitly stated in our original messages that the carpets (75m²) were to be lifted and removed, and at no point did their team inspect how they were fixed to the floor. To be clear: I was standing right next to the worker. He never checked the carpets. More lies. (Later that week the carpets were removed by one man another company in an hour) At that point, we’d had enough. We told Jade to cancel the job and send the team home. The constant shifting of blame, changing stories, and sheer incompetence was beyond frustrating — it was insulting. This company failed to deliver on every single aspect of what they promised: They were late (by hours). They sent an understaffed and uninformed team. They changed their excuses constantly (traffic, hazards, sick team, etc.). They tried to charge extra for work we had already discussed and agreed upon. They wasted our time, twice. Bottom line: This was an unprofessional, poorly run, and completely unreliable experience from start to finish. Do not be lured by their low prices — the stress, wasted time, and frustration are not worth it. There are many better and more honest companies out there. Avoid Proactive Cleaners at all costs. Update 11.12.25 No one from Proactive enough to get in touch other than the reply to the Google review advert.

Due to the large size of the property, we requested for a manager to be present to supervise, we were not disappointed. I would highly recommend Proactive Cleaners.    Very unsatisfied, charged an exorbitant price and received next to no cleaning service, created a significant amount of work for us as departing tenants, instead of providing the complete and competent end of tenancy clean which was promised. Service was nowhere near sufficient to regain our deposit, and we managed to find a cleaner who did a comparatively fantastic job for £50, a fraction of the £700 fee charged by Proactive Cleaners. Will be expecting a 50% refund, as the attitude of the company to this issue has been extremely disappointing.
