   A barrier now blocks the exit of the self-checkout area. Customers must scan a barcode on their receipt for the gate to open. New security system in place at this Lydl Store Carlton - I visited at 12.15pm on a Friday afternoon (12th December 2025) There is a perspex security gate with a scanning device, so now you will need to keep your receipt after payment, and scan it to exit this store. I like Lidl and appreciate there must be security issues, but better to provide another member of staff, as there are often problems with the self checkout area and help is needed. In fact we needed assistance that day as there was a fault on the machine. In effect this meant having the individual items in our shopping checked, then again as we had to scan our receipt. All shoppers will need to allow more time to exit. But I am especially concerned about Disabled shoppers, how would a VI person operate the system, and it is not clear what extra support Lydl is providing to make shopping accessible

   This is a typical Lidl in that there are great middle of Lidl bargains to be had. Absolutely loads of parking (watch out for the vast amount of driving instructors using the car park for learner driver practice). Staff great as always at Lidl - helpful, informed and pleasant. Toilets are as you walk in on the left - IMHO the best place for them. The isles are also nice and wide. In my honest opinion the Netherfield branch is the best Lidl in Nottingham. As such I gave 5 stars.

   Very good variety of food, friendly staff and good technology. Why is one guy complaining about homeless people? They don't have a home. Would recommend definitely. Good prices, especially with Lidl card

   Really nice inside fully stocked A shame to let's say homeless gus smoking a substance from a pipe outside the doors . The amount of customers generously handing them money food £1 from the trolley. Please Stop .

   DON'T COME TO SHOP IN LIDL I don't know if Lidl have sold off their parking lot to Parking Eye or if Parking Eye just manage the parking lot, but I've been charged with a £90 fine for parking 19minutes more then the designated 90minutes in Lidl. I will NO LONGER we a customer. If you have children, you are a person with a disability, you are pregnant, struggle with any mobility, or even if you had a migraine that day that prevented you from functioning at capacity, or received some news that would make you struggle to stick to ONLY 90 MINUTES, or have anything that could potentially make you spend some minutes extra in Lidl, DO NOT COME TO SHOP LIDL.

   Edit: Reducing to 1 star, as the staff steals from customers. On more than 2 occasions, they have added items to my bill that I didn't buy or take. Good place to do your weekly grocery shopping. Decent prices and usually enough stock level. However, I have found some of the staff to be a bit rude.

   On my first visit to the store with family received an unpleasant treatment from the security staff. The fact that we shopped items and put them in our own shopping trolley wasn't appreciated and we're questioned why we're not using the trolley's available in the shop. I never had such an unnatural experience in any of stores before and by far is my worst shopping experience.

   Lidl is in the way to the school of my daughter, after dropping her at school while returning I generally get down at lidl as that is the only supermarket which opens at 8 AM in that area. Groceries are available. In addition good quality fruits and vegetables are also available. Prices are moderate in addition free parking is also available. One can buy other household items from lidl.

   Always a pleasure to visit my local Lidl. Lovely nice clear aisles for my mobility equipment and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The low prices are an added bonus. Lidl do not forgo quality with their affordable items, so not only are you getting a bargain, you never have to compromise on taste.

   Convenient lidl to shop from. Easily from surrounding like sneinton,st Ann's, carlton hill,mapperley and the city centre. Wide selection of goods, situated right next to a bus serviced main road. Plenty free car parking, friendly staff and 8 express self check out tills for those who just want to pop in for a quick small shop
