I started a self build/renovation in April 2021, a project which has grown arms and legs. I had originally been shopping around with local building suppliers, but soon found MacBlair Larne to be the most competitive with pricing and easiest to deal with. Taking on a extensive renovation of a 125 year old property as a total novice has its challenges, but John Quinn from the Larne branch has been helping me every step of the way. Any questions I have about the materials John is happy to answer, he is excellent at taking time to explain the best way of doing things and what materials I need to get the job done. Our renovation is being filmed as part of BBC series “Restoration Rescue” which has added an extra element of stress to an already stressful project. There has been a number of occasions where I have needed materials at short notice for filming days, and all I have to do is pick up the phone and John is able to get it sorted. Deliveries arrive within a matter of hours, and the drivers are happy to set them in a spot convenient to myself. The guys in the yard also deserve a mention as they are absolute champions. They are always there to give me a hand loading materials, no matter what the weather.

Being a novice in regards to DIY I explained my job to the counter staff and they put together a list of stuff I would need, i handed the list to the store keeper and he put it all in the car. Nobody tried to cheat me or sell me expensive things I did not need. £20 for everything to fix this whole which goes through both layers of brick and the cavity.
