If you have a period property with old or delicate stone floors, especially Blue Lias, avoid this company. Do your homework and find someone with genuine expertise in historic floors. We hired Advantex to clean and seal our 200-year-old Blue Lias floors, which were previously covered with concrete and other non-breathable materials. Because the stones sit directly on earth, it’s essential they’re treated correctly to allow the floor to breathe - otherwise, moisture issues simply move elsewhere, like into walls. Unfortunately, this company did not understand the sensitivities of our floor, and their work is one of my biggest renovation regrets. They used Stone Care Direct Ultra Enhancer and Fila Satin Wax on the surface. The enhancer may be breathable, but it is far too strong for historic stone like Blue Lias. After consulting a historic stone expert, we learned these products can cause patchiness and are simply not suitable for old floors. Our living room now looks pale grey and washed out, while the dining room is considerably darker, leaving a completely uneven appearance. The worst part is that Ultra Enhancer is a subsurface impregnator - it cannot be removed. Yes, enhancers break down over time, but if they had truly understood our floors, they would never have applied it in the first place. Blue Lias simply doesn’t respond well to strong enhancers; they exaggerate differences in the stone rather than enhancing it evenly. On top of that, they claimed they could fill some drilled holes in the flags without issue. They used some sort of brown, tacky material that is still sticky a year later. I noticed the problem immediately after it was applied, but at that point I simply wanted them out of my house, so I kept quiet. Luckily, I’ve since learned more about the correct way to treat historic stone and I’m now in the process of reversing the damage as much as possible. But I would urge anyone with period floors to avoid Advantex and seek out a company with true specialist knowledge of heritage stone. **28 July** Thanks for the reply. It’s kind of you to offer support now - though I didn’t see anything on your website suggesting you offer aftercare. Perhaps that’s only available to certain customers? When you left our property, you didn’t invite us to get in touch with any questions or concerns. As for supplying a report from our expert; I’m not sure why that’s suddenly my responsibility. My review explains what went wrong and why it happened. The blue lias turned pale and patchy because the wrong products were applied. That should be clear enough. People should be able to know that your team lack knowledge in this area and they'd be better finding a stone specialist. I appreciate you might want to see a report for professional learning since I doubt you'll use it to initiate a refund for all our troubles - again, a lot can be learned from the original review.

A very professional job done on restoring my limestone kitchen floor to its original state. I had had an ‘acid’ spill which had eaten into the limestone and left a dull splatter mark. Very pleased with the work done by Gary and his son. Highly recommend .

The difference in my floor is incredible. I didn’t think it would ever be as nice as it is now. I have gone from having a stone floor that I felt could never look clean to feeling like it’s a beautiful feature of the house. The service was great. The guys were lovely and explained everything clearly. They left me the cleaner I need to keep it up without damaging the finish. I especially liked how they put the different finishes down so I could choose which one I wanted - this was super helpful. Great experience, I would recommend.

I found a victorian tiled floor under horrid laminate flooring. Gary was amazing. Came round for an hour consultation and showed me how good the floor could look. Booked him in and the work was prompt and of superb quality. Very highly recommend.

Our problem was that we had a stone bathroom floor, the appearance of which had deteriorated over the years. A father and son team, Advantex were excellent. I was particularly impressed by their impromptu demonstration as to how the floor could be restored, treating a small test area on their quotation visit. It gave me huge confidence, which was not misplaced, as our bathroom floor is now restored to the best it's ever looked (before and after photos attached). They are incredibly knowledgeable and professional and I would not hesitate to recommend then to anyone who has a problem with any type of flooring, or for that fact upholstery. I shall be using them again! Thanks Guys John Tugman

I had Advantex Cleaning come in and clean/restore my entire downstairs porcelain tiles and grout that were heavily soiled with dirty and grime. They did an amazing job in lifting the dirt and restoring both the tiles and grout to a better state than when they were new and first layed. Not only this, but the sealer they have used has kept the dirt and grime at bay and it still looks amazing a month on from their work. I am really pleased with the results and would highly recommend them as well as use Advantex Cleaning again in the future.

Very weird visit from these guys to clean my carpets. They hadn't made a pre-visit to check what was needed and they ignored my suggestion that they park in the parking space so that the garage wouldn't be blocked. They wouldn't put overshoes on to enter the house - no-one has ever done this before. They said they couldn't clean a carpet in my conservatory because there was a small quite lightweight treadmill in there which could easily be lifted by two men. They left without doing anything. So overall a disappointment and not to be recommended.

We have external travertine tiles that had not been sealed or cleaned for 10 years. Advantex did an excellent job removing the stains and sealing the tiles. Really professional and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
