Suffice to say that we are fortunate and most grateful to be looked after so efficiently by a well-directed team of excellent doctors, nurses, reception and clerical staff!
Dr C Rea was absolutely fantastic with me and my son. She was more than happy to fit him in to be seen so I could put my mind at ease that he was okay. She was brilliant with him even when he was grumpy and also made me feel reassured and comfortable.
I cannot fault this surgery. Four years ago I thought the reception staff were a bit rude but that has changed and they are very nice. I feel that my family and I are very well looked after and the well women clinic is excellent.
Reception staff are ok but one in particular is horrendous. Thought is was funny to laugh at my daughter for her phobia on needles. We were kept waiting 50 minutes in all as I was asked to be early. I spoke to the lady on reception 2 times. She said there was nothing she could do and rolled her eyes. I had already explained while on the phone and on our arrival that she was freaking out about the whole process and if it wasn’t really important for her mental health we would not be there. However she found the whole thing so funny we could hear her laughing from our waiting area. At 30 minutes past our appointment my daughter took to her heels and ran. I asked for another appointment but got a “for gods sake” followed by “you will have to phone up in the morning”. I explained that I was worried for her state of mind and got Well what do you want me to do ? Really. Is this the best person for the post of receptionist. I think not. I’m sorry to say I lost my temper. So. Doctors are good. If you can get past Godzilla on the desk
Dr whiteside is great but the reception staff are horrendous to speak to if they where not so highly strung this would be a lovely doctors, the staff on reception think they actually are the ones with the medial degree, and Iv never spoke to another clinic that are so over the top about timings even if the real Doctors have told you the information you need reception have there own times and depends on who u get on the phone if there in a mood or not . Call times to get a doctor to contact you is impossible and when you do get reception on the phone you have missed call time to have a call back from holding the line. If you can deal with the rudeness and once you get Dr Whiteside he makes a lot of time for you
The doctors at this health centre (who are leaving within the next month) are brilliant, however the reception staff are rude and treat their patients horrifically. I have had multiple issues with the staff due to the being unable to do their job. They know absolutely no information and they seem to believe that they are the actual doctors, the power of being a receptionist must go to their heads. They close the surgery before they are meant to. Multiple times I have had to go to pick up prescriptions and they have closed 20 minutes before their lunch hour. They also booked me the wrong appointment after having my baby 2 months ago and told me I had to ring up to book another after travelling down with my infant in the pouring rain. I stated that if I went outside to ring, or called right their at the desk could they make the appointment, she just sneered. When I asked why the other surgery in comber is no longer allowed to take Comber Health Centres patients away (as stated by the medical board), the receptionist groaned as I asked a question. They don't make the right appointments, talk down to everyone, and treat patients like rubbish. They are rude and unreliable. Highly advise not registering with this surgery; does it not say something when other surgeries are no longer aloud to take their patients away - because so many people want to leave due to the service they have received. If this was a shop with consumers those staff members would have been fired by now through treating consumers that way. Once the new doctor, Dr Whiteside takes over, there will be no need to continue to register with this surgery. It's ridiculous and the receptionists should go and get a doctor's degree if they want to treat patients in such a manner.
Usually a very good doctors. However I called to order a repeat prescription and got told that I couldn't do that over the phone. I then took my daughter down who had developed a rash and to order the prescription and was told I shouldn't have brought her in! Working full time and having to do two trips to a doctors just to get a prescription is very inconvenient and for the questions they ask to order the prescription could very easily have been done over the phone!!
