I have never had a bad experience with this surgery - I guess some of the other reviews might be unfair. I sent an econsult at 0900 this morning had a text from the Dr 1 hour later who prescribed meds - I'm picking them up now at the pharmacy, whilst writing this review.

This use to be a great GP Surgery. However, since COVID, the practice has declined, both with it ls accessibility and quality of service. No longer are you able to see, let alone speak to a GP with current concerns, and on the rare occasion you do get to see one, they are dismissive, fail to fully examine you or palm you off with excuses. The prescription reordering service has also declined. Medications are often left requiring reviews before any new prescriptions can be issued and when you repeatedly ask for this to be done, it's totally ignored. Follow up actions from hospitals are also not completed, even when serious concerns have been raised such as possible cancer concerns. Trying to get through via telephone to the practice is also almost impossible with huge wait times of a hour or more. Not practical when you have to work. Out of hours consult is also regularly turned off when they become overwhelmed by enquiries. Would I recommend this GP practice? 10 years ago definitely, in the last 6 years most definitely No.

Excellent service – I completed an e-consult and received a quick response, with an appointment arranged with the practice nurse the same day. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and the whole team were pleasant, responsive, and professional. Really impressed with the care provided.

Just registered after moving to the area. Pleased to see how easy access is compared to my previous surgery. The e consults is open all day and doesn't get closed, and used the phone line today. Whilst 9th in the queue, I was through within a few minutes. Very polite interaction and I got the information I needed.

Beacon Medical Group are nothing short of negligent. There’s a reason they have 1 star on Google reviews and myself and my family have been let down by them no end. There have been at least 6 occasions where my children have ended up either in A&E or at a 111 appointment for something that could’ve, and should’ve been dealt with at their GP practice. Unfortunately all the other services are picking up the pieces because Beacon cannot seem to put their patients first. My daughter has been shouted at during an appointment by a practitioner, I have even screamed at down the phone and hung up on by a GP, and my son was almost admitted due to Tonsillitis, Strep, and conjunctivitis going unnoticed by a practitioner at Beacon. You can make a complaint, but there isn’t much point. All you get is a response saying they will ‘pass on the feedback to avoid the same happening in the future’. I am sick to the back teeth of having an issue EVERY time we need something from them. It’s exhausting and needs to be sorted out! We are moving practice because of the points above, and I really hope no one makes the same mistake as us by trusting these people with their families health and wellbeing. I am disgusted!

Awful service. Often have to wait 40 minutes and go through an annoying menu to do anything. You have to ring for test results and talk to the receptionist about them and not a doctor. If results are negative there's no follow follow up as to so where do we go from here. Very little continuity with part-time doctors

Informed the doctor I work full time and am unable to take calls during these hours, was still called whilst at work and was unable to answer. Takes you an hour to get through just to be told you'll get a call from a doctor in a week, if you're lucky you'll get shrugged off with a possible treatment that they don't know or care if it works. Woman on the phone was rude and uncaring. So many issues I don't bother trying to sort because it's impossible to find someone to talk to let alone someone who cares.

I have to say brilliant service tonight from a doctor named Sarah and her colleague can't remember her name but they was fantastic with caring for my 15 month old daughter. Discussed everything with me made me feel at ease was very good with my daughter I can't fault them enough went above and beyond and I'm so grateful from a very over worrying mum so thank you

Had an appointment this evening for my Son who is nearly 2 at Glenside, Plympton. First time going here as we usually go to Ivybridge. We were seen on time by Dr Lewis who was brilliant. He gave my son a full check up, no rushing and he even sang Thomas the Tank Engine with me to try and distract him. I wish more doctor appointments were like this. Thank you

ZERO STARS IF I COULD Did the normal e consultant system Sunday when my ear started to leak blood after having spent a week home care over the counter treatments. Got a reply to say I would be contacted up to 48hours time. Overnight pain was intense, called them 8am got cut off multiple times. When I got through it took 45mins to speak to reception who told me I'd be called tomorrow. She didn't care about the pain causing me to cry, unable to care for my kids and unable to work. Finally pushed for a call same day and was told I wasn't allowed a face to face appointment before the call. I could have been seen by 10am in the empty surgery local to me and prescription by lunch time. Instead I had to be in agony all day with a call and app after 4pm. Having to then try to get the prescription before pharmacy closes while in agony still. The understand, support and care from the person I was seen by was non existent. The trainee nurse was caring. Doctor was cold and stressy. Turns out I have a Perforated ear drum with serve ear infection. She said the space to view is small and it's hard because I was crying in pain while she had prob in my ear trying to look. Blood covering cotton in my ear every 10 minutes having to change it but she fobbed that off. Go back to being able to see your own or any doctor on the same day you call. No one should have to spend their day in agony and feeling like your not important enough. If I was elderly with no family around this would of impacted my mental health. The service is not good enough. The queue is always out the door and being told at reception desk you have to wait for call is not good enough. No wonder a and e and Cumberland are rammed and causing further delays when doctor don't see people. E-consult service is no good as if you put pain too high it cuts to calling 111. You can't always give accurate answers. Get back to face to face appointments and not capping the awaiting calls numbers. Get rid of the long speel and option picking on the phone.
