I had a really disappointing experience with Thompson’s Garage Nightclub. We bought tickets and arrived ready to go in, but the lines were insanely long. We waited for a long time, only to eventually be told that they stopped letting people in after 11 PM. At that point, even though we had already paid for tickets, we were not allowed entry. There was no warning when purchasing that entry would be cut off regardless of ticket status, and no refund or alternative was offered. It essentially felt like we were swindled out of our money. If you’re planning to go, be very cautious about buying tickets in advance unless you’re arriving extremely early. Paying for entry doesn’t actually guarantee you’ll get in, which is unacceptable for a venue of this size.

I visited Thompsons Garage with a few friends on Friday. It was lively as it has always been. I went to order drinks there were 4 staff behind the bar and the only person serving was the only non Caucasian staff member. The rest of the staff who were very young were chatting and messing around. A queue was forming and nobody was happy with the service. I expressed my dissatisfaction stating that there was only one person serving and it was unfair to him a girl behind the bar threatened me with security in which I replied "for asking you to serve customers?" She rushed off to the security staff. I followed her to the front so I could clear it up. The Security did not care about the situation and refused me to go back inside. I used to go to Thompsons in the past the service was always great. All of this could have been cleared up as I am sure there is video footage at the bar but I suppose it is easier to get rid of someone who isn't happy with the service. I wouldn't recommend.

So we were trying to spend our only night at this club by reference from the hotel staff we’re staying with. When we tried to enter the cocky and arrogant bouncer said do you have tickets. I did not have tickets but I bought tickets there and then. The cocky arrogant bald bouncer said you guys are denied entry!! I wouldn’t believe this that he said you shouldn’t have bought tickets. Belfast didn’t really paint a very progressive picture there! We were dressed suits and beyond this apparent high obnoxious bouncer! Painted a very bad image of Belfast night scene. Best described ‘Racist’ from my point. (FYI I do not drink!) definitely not recommended and never coming to Belfast ever again for night life- joke!!!! Dublin is so much better (progressive)!

Thompsons Garage is hands down one of the best nightlife spots in Belfast. The energy is electric, the crowd is always buzzing, and the music never disappoints—from top local DJs to international acts that keep the dancefloor alive all night. The venue itself has a cool, underground vibe with a stylish layout and great sound system, and the staff are friendly and efficient even on busy nights. Whether you're into house, hip-hop, or a bit of everything, Thompsons always delivers an unforgettable night out.

So, I attended on Tuesday with my girlfriend, at around 11:30 a bouncer grabbed her without consent and forced her to leave, when I questioned her decision he threatened to hit me, which made me uncomfortable and we Left, I did not want to get hurt, I asked clearly why we were being asked to leave and not only was I not given an answer but I was also threatened , I will be phoning the establishment tomorrow and legal action will be taken , be girlfriend has been intimidated by the bouncers and they have not given a reason for asking her to leave, I ask for cctv to be checked, as mg solicitor shall be checking these tapes also, I hope this issue can be resolved without the need or legal action

Good points: £5 entry. Stays open late. Bad points: Watered down drinks. You'll have to leave the club if you want to hear any good music.

Came here Saturday night. Bouncers were fine outside. Had no issue with them compared to some others. 5 pound in was ok considering we rocked up at 1:45. However we were told we could buy drinks inside but they had already closed the bar so would have been nice if they had set that. Music was great, decent house music playing and crowd was young 20's. Good place for a dance, about the only place where you can dance till 3 in Belfast. We were from the south so we weren't sure if there would be any aggression towards us but was grand.

Where do I start, poor toilet situations, small bars where your waiting what feels like a lifetime to be served, so many clearly underage individuals allowed in , lines for smoking area , once you go out to it good luck getting back in, bouncers constantly on power trips & cash only for entry??? Always too packed & having drinks spilt all over you or knocked out of your hand. Surely there needs to be a better set up capacity situation as people with tickets end up not getting in due to capacity because people pay in before just makes no sense.

Inhumane experience… Although the music is nice, the staff working there is some of the most unprofessional I’ve seen. My friend got kicked out for no reason (rather, I believe, racist reasons) and the lack of discretion the bodyguards have shown truly shocked all of us. I am desperately sorry to have witnessed such disrespect and stupidity in one night. I’m not usually the kind to write pessimistic reviews, but this event has left me with a bitter feeling of injustice. Nb: I would like to thank the Greek bodyguard at the door of the club, who was the only member of the staff to have shown a sense of humanity.
