This is a scam shop. 0n September 29,2025 at 4:30 PM, l paid my water bill for £169.27 in cash at this convenience store. The female clerk took the bill, processed it through the machine, and accepted the cash without giving me a receipt, supposedly "OK". However, l received the water bill October 29,2025, but the payment hasn't been made. I need to pay an additional £169.27 online. Please don't come to this store again. Beware of danger!!!!!!!!!!

In an age where the term “incompetent” is thrown about online with the same flippancy as an empty crisp packet on the pavement, it’s refreshing—nay, necessary—to set the record straight. Nestled in a neighbourhood that’s more “gritty realism” than “gentrified artisan bakery,” this corner shop stands not only as a purveyor of pantry staples but as a quietly heroic fixture of the community. Yes, the shop has its share of challenges—chief among them, the relentless battle with shoplifters, which must test the patience of even the most Zen-like retail worker. But what you’ll find here is resilience, warmth, and shelves that are, miraculously, still well-stocked. The staff are consistently welcoming, helpful, and patient—more so than most customer service veterans in less trying environments. And at the helm is Reece, the manager, whose dry wit and demeanour add just the right dash of levity to your weekly mission for oat milk and emergency biscuits. This isn’t a sterile supermarket with automated voices and corporate indifference; it’s a human place, with real people doing a hard job well. So if you’re inclined to judge based on one flustered Tuesday afternoon, perhaps take a breath (and a Hobnob) and remember: competence isn’t always loud—it’s often quietly dependable.

The absolute pits. Incompetent and unhelpful staff. The Post Office is closed half the time for 'cashing up'. Often you walk in and there is no-one serving behind the till and you have to hang around hopefully until they trudge up reluctantly to the counter to stare at you expressionless. When there is a queue they don't call another member of staff to help, which winds the other customers up, but have a nice chat with their friend which they are serving. There are trolleys and boxes of parcels blocking the aisles. The problem is, there is no other shop to go to in this forgotten corner of Bristol, so this place has the monopoly. Awful.

I’m so pleased this is my local shop! I go in most days and the staff are so friendly and you can have a real laugh with them. Reese is brilliant, as our a few of the others. They put up with a lot of bad customers being abusive and stealing. It’s not been easy for them in there lately yet they are always smiling!

Worst post-office/shop, staff are incredibly slow so don't go there if you're in a hurry. Visited the post office 4 times before I was able to return my package. Twice the post office was closed, once the queue was ridiculously long with only 1 person serving on both counters. Final time same thing again, a long queue with 1 person serving and struggling to use the post office efficiently hopping between post office and shop. This post office/shop definitely needs more staff that are capable of managing the fast pace needed for retail customer service. The shop always looks gubby, untidy and could do with a good clean.

This shop is by far the worst its ever been. Im disabled and have to go completely out of my way most days of the week for milk of all things. The check out staff carol in particular i dont know how shes still got a job as her langauge is terrible and attitude is really messed up. I would never go to this shop if i wasn't disabled and jave to use it. There is 2 blokes there that seem to care all the rest dont care at all because i cant even get the phone answered before leaving to find out I've got to drag myself threw pain to go graystoke for milk. This shop is the opposite of convenient, its always got broken fridges and can never get around the tiny little shop because theres always cages in the way and no one working them.

Can't stress enough how bad the service is in this place and since they got headsets they are so rude and just talk nonsense to each other whilst serving you 1 person serving shop and post office both what a joke they need some management in there

I use this shop daily can be abit pricey but then they always got deals and bargains on its good for essentials and last minute grabs but not for filling the cupboards or freezer and being the only store In the area you would think they have more bulk options such as pet food and more meat and vegetable varieties

I give this a one star due to being charged for Thatchers gold 4x440ml £5.25 everywhere else alot cheaper, when asked why is it different price the female said it was the buget, checked prices with other shops price has stayed the same in some case cheaper. The shop always look dirty (ie) windows broke, fridges not working, bad attude from the staff, always waiting alot longer to be served due to staff thinks its ok to chat to customers about thier life stories.

Have to give it a one star review. You don't expect anything good from a Mccolls store. Low wages, very high prices and poorly managed staff create the perfect conditions for something you would NEVER see in any other shop. Overpriced milk, out of date.... By a MONTH!....... Incredible, hard to believe. In fact I took a photo to prove it.
