Alan is a great drum tutor, very professional and knowledgeable. He has many years of experience performing and teaching people of all ages and abilities. Alan is very personable and his depth of knowledge of drum styles and techniques is unsurpassed. Our teenage son really enjoys his lessons and we could not recommend Alan enough. Alan is able to facilitate lessons in person or online and implemented all required covid-19 measures.

I’ve been a mature student of Alan’s for around 7 years now. Alan has a wonderfully flexible approach to tuition covering not just the Rockschool syllabus but also general tips and techniques, every musical style you could think of and great library of β€˜real’ pieces to compliment your studies. Alan works with you to direct your tuition either to what you would like to learn or what he thinks would benefit you the most – we spent most of the 2020 lockdown working on jazz drumming, a genre I previously wouldn’t have had thought much about trying, but I loved it!

Alan is a great drum tutor and has a huge breadth of experience both as a performer and a teacher. He is very easy to get along with and he has taught me so many new styles of drumming.

As an (only slightly) older beginner I've found Alan's teaching style really good - mixing the theory and learning to read music with some non-grade tracks keeps the drumming varied & fun! He has a wealth of experience and so much material to draw from no matter what style of drumming is involved. Would definitely recommend Alan!

Alan is an absolutely fantastic teacher and communicates with us as parents extremely well. Our son has ASD and Alan was very sensitive to this and approached the teaching with great empathy. During Covid, his schooling followed all guidelines for both in person and video classes. I have to say that the video link tutorials were excellent and kept our son on track very effectively.

I would highly recommend Alan as a tutor of drums and musicianship as a whole. He guided me through multiple grades as well as broadening my scope to gain the ability to adopt to change and play almost any genre, and introduced me to styles and musicians I had never heard of. His lessons have serves me well on and off the drum kit. Many thanks Alan!

I have performed with Alan and he also taught my son drums and can say from personal experience, that he is one of the most musical, professional and experienced performers and tutors in the country. Informed by background in percussion, sight reading and playing across many different styles, his tutoring approach is organised, insightful and effective. That's why I recommend Alan as first choice for drum tutoring.
