Excellent service provided, I took my van to HGS when I noticed whining in 5th and 6th. They arranged for the gear box to be removed and then refurbished my gear box and had it back to me in 2 days. Gear box feels brand new. Staff were friendly and extra knowledgeable. Thanks guys.

Had a great experience at High Gear Service. I’d just bought a car and was a bit concerned about some noises when changing gears, so I wanted to get the gears checked out. We happened to be parked up nearby and noticed they offered free gear checks — so we popped in to ask. We were greeted by the owner, who was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He offered to take a look at the car straightaway and even did a quick test drive. He was very informative, explained everything clearly, and gave us honest, practical advice about the condition of the car and what to keep an eye on. Had a bearing sound on the car, kwik fit reckoned it was transmission but HGS accurately diagnosed it as a wheel bearing. Good service.
Professional, knowledgeable and reliable, these guys are straight talking and honest experts of the highest caliber! I honestly cannot recommend highly enough. Before coming to High Gear Service (as I didn’t know about them at the time) I had taken my car to several other garages for diagnostics but they failed to find out what the awful noise was that was coming from the engine area of my Audi. Fortunately, Errol was able to pinpoint the problem almost immediately for me! As he wanted to give me peace of mind, he insisted I continue with the test drive for a further 45 minutes so he could be certain and further define exactly where the noise was coming from and what it was. Saved my holiday! I took my car to my local garage to have a noise checked and they said it needed a new gearbox but they couldn’t do it. I found High Gear Service online and on short notice took my car in hoping it might be fixed in time for my holiday a few days later. Errol test drove the car and not only reassured me that there was nothing wrong with the gearbox, but also called in a favour and managed to diagnose what had been causing the noise, which was basically nothing to worry about. So I went from being on the verge of cancelling my holiday and forking out for a new gearbox to everything being sorted within an hour of arriving at High Gear Service. Really amazing, and very friendly guys. Restored my faith in humanity, or mechanics at least!
What a thoroughly nice chap Herrol is, we went for a short test-drive during which he diagnosed my cars noise problem, wheel bearing rather than differential. He was spot on...new bearing... all quiet! He didn't charge for his time either. Would highly recommend. Steve S.
