The food was average but the etiquettes of the staff was very casual. They were not even crossing the bars to give the food, handing over spoons as if they are forced to work. My guests were very unhappy and it was a huge disappointment as it was my birthday. I am very upset

Restaurant is impressive, parking around the back. Inside is huge and we arrived on a Friday night and it was very noisy inside. Nearly all the tables we occupied and we were seated upstairs in the corner. Table was great and nice and big for the 3 of us. Service was excellent, food was excellent but a little pricey. I would come back during the week when it's a little quieter. I would recommend.

We visited Calcutta for our Christmas lunch and were genuinely excited — the food turned out to be absolutely divine, truly five-star quality. Unfortunately, the hosting and service let the entire experience down. We had booked our Christmas do for 1pm, but the moment we arrived the waiter told us, rather abruptly, that the kitchen would close at 2pm and we needed to order immediately. This created unnecessary pressure from the start. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, but when we tried to order dessert around 2pm, we were told the kitchen was closed and that we needed to pay our bill and leave. For a Christmas meal to last less than an hour must surely be some kind of record — and not in a good way. We were genuinely gutted. What made it worse was that Calcutta already knew this was a Christmas booking, yet never mentioned the early closing time. It’s hard to understand how a restaurant offering Christmas lunches is only open for two hours, or why guests aren’t informed beforehand. To sum up: five-star food, zero-star service. The food was exceptional, but the hosting felt rude, abrupt, and frankly quite awkward. Such a shame for a restaurant with such great potential.

A lovely restaurant in what looks like a disused church. A stunning building with friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The food was also good. I was a bit cold, but then because the building is so big I expect it is hard to heat. I would recommend anyone to go if they have not already done so.

Had an amazing meal tonight celebrating my partner’s birthday, this is the second time we’ve dined here, the food is exceptional!! The interior of the building is beautiful and the service is great. We’ll definitely be visiting more often, thank you.

We do a near 2 hour round trip just to come here! Banquet A is one of the most exceptional collections of food, can honestly so it's the best Indian I've ever eaten. Beautiful setting too, absolutely love it here.

It's clean and tidy. Went for the buffet and the food didn’t set me on fire with excitement, basic choices in the starters and mains but the desserts was not great wouldn’t recommend the buffet but highly recommend ordering from the menu as it’s so much better. Overall give the buffet a miss but ordering from the menu is way more better.

Calcutta is great Indian restaurant located in a beautiful historic building in the picturesque town of Stony Stratford. We ordered, scallops, king prawns, chicken and lamb. All of which was cooked very nicely and had very nice flavour. Overall considering location, decor, service and food Calcutta Brasserie gets a 5 star rating. Recommended.
