   So impressed. We’re always looking for good value and this place is grrrrreat value. This was a BnB stop over to fit our needs while attending a gig in Daventry. Staff- friendly and professional Manager - very helpful, really impressed by him Chef - wow. Food was outstanding. Roast lunch 2 courses - 3 course breakfast with full English Room - simply charming, comfortable and a lovely place to sleep Sunday deal on this was just £80 all in Footnote - we stayed in the kings suite. Not a problem for us but stairs might cause an issue for some and limited head space over the bath for the over 6 footers

   Booked here as it was halfway between home and Heathrow Airport. Had fish and chips for dinner which were very nice. Great service too after our long journey. We stayed in bedroom 2, this was accessed via a rather dodgy staircase. Most unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The room It's self was tiny, everything was on the tilt due to the building being of an age, it felt like being in an uneven boat. The bed was small, good job we are not large and each time 1 of us moved the other person was rocked about, the pillows were far too soft like massive marshmallows. The manager needs to spend a night in that room to see how uncomfortable it is. Breakfast was really good. Yogurt, fruit, muesli followed by English breakfast and coffee. Would recommend the food but not the rooms.

   Nice, quaint old pub with a few letting bedrooms, set in a pretty, character Northamptonshire village. The bar/restaurant was well presented in keeping with its age, with a limited menu. The food was adequate but a little pricey. Portions were ok ,but our main course, duck breast was disappointing for want of vegetables. The food was Nouvelle Cuisine with a vengeance! Access to the bedrooms was via a narrow staircase, so unsuitable for people with mobility problems. Our bedroom was small, the double bed filling the space making access to one side of the bed difficult. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice beyond the standard "full English". No cereals were offered first. I asked for just toast and marmalade for my breakfast but sadly the toast was thin, over toasted, sourdough bread. They had no marmalade either, just jam. Summing up, it's probable we wouldn't return for a further stay even though £65 each for bed and breakfast was fairly reasonable.

   Stayed overnight and ate in the restaurant. Amazing service, warm and friendly but also efficient. The food was also great I hear it got new owners 5 months ago and then took it from the highbrow place it was before back to a top notch, still elevated, local. I honestly think the new owners got EVERYTHING right. The rooms were also clean, inviting and comfortable beds. Well recommend

   We had a lovely evening and overnight at the Red Lion. Great welcome even though we arrived at a busy time in the restaurant. Small but cosy, well decorated room. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Lovely big bath towels. This is a very old building and the narrow, steep stairs and the sloping floors may not be for everyone but we found these features delightful. The food in the restaurant was very good and the service was excellent. Breakfast was also excellent. We would certainly like to return in future and can very happily recommend the Red Lion.

   We have been coming to The Red Lion for more than 30 years and having not visited since Covid we were very much looking forward to coming for dinner last Saturday. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The prawn starter was very unappealing as were the duck wraps. The Thai Red Curry was extremely bland and did not exude any of the Thai flavours one would expect. The steak was fine although it was served a few minutes later than the other mains. The burger was average with a very shrivelled bun. We did leave a tip only in the hope that it went directly to our waitress who did her best but had clearly received very little training.

   As always, high standards. Bar and waitressing staff excellent. Dinner excellent. Bedroom very comfortable and I slept well. Continental breakfast good. Will stay again when I’m in the area. As a pub though it’s lacking. I arrived for my stay at around 5pm and there were people sitting at tables having drinks. It wasn’t long before all the tables had Reserved signs on them as it was now catering for diners and not drinkers. Maybe a sign of the times. If you went in after 6pm just for a drink you’d feel a second class citizen and possibly in the way.

   Not the best Sunday Lunch, I ordered the King prawn starter which was disappointing in both taste and presentation and poor value for money, and eventually the mains came, the food was covered in gravy rather than in a separate gravy boat. But one of the biggest issues was the cutlery, the fork twisted when trying to use it and the knife did not cut the beef easily, even though it was pink. The staff were helpful but not dressed appropriately, jeans & scruffy shirts, which we felt was not right for the dinning experience Overall meal was disappointing.

   Amazing food, amazing atmosphere and lovely, friendly staff! Staying in East hadron for Christmas and brought my family of 6 to the Red lion for Christmas lunch - it was fantastic. Food was of great quality, the portions sizes were large and there wasn’t an option that didn’t satisfy. Staff were very attentive (without being overbearing), were friendly and helped make a lovely Christmas experience. The little additions like starters, palate cleaners and cheese plate / mince pies just topped off a lovely, satisfying Christmas lunch. Absolutely didn’t disappoint. Thank you!

   Very friendly pub. We stayed here for about 2 weeks. The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing. If you can stay over the weekends so you can have the cooked breakfast, and if you have dinner definitely order the mushroom pasta and the sticky toffee pudding
