Our first time in Lewes, we called in for a drink in the afternoon and went back in the evening for a pre-wedding family party. The staff were really friendly and helpful, there was a good selection of real ales and the evening buffet was delicious (and plentiful!). The pub has a warm and welcoming feel & it was great that the music wasn’t loud so we could have conversations with family & friends.

Easy atmosphere, a cool private garden, a sports room upstairs for TV football & rugby etc plus pool and darts, a decent friendly clientele, and..... well positioned in a very rustic and fascinating historic town! What more can one want for? Oh yeah, they're dog friendly too ^,,^

I come to the Royal Oak all the time even though it’s not my local by far! Staff are so friendly and welcoming, especially Stevie they are absolutely amazing always going above and beyond! Such a cosy pub with a lovely beer garden and loads of room upstairs for watching sports and a lovely pool table.

Fabulous! Consider all my wishlist categories well and truly ticked. A proper pub for proper people. All is well in my world whilst places like this appear in it.

Casta amd Madge found yet another CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular. Four real ales and a real cider. Had my first ever beer from Hand Brew ( Canterbury, Kent.) . Very good. A lovely front room ( couple of tv's) and a surprisingly large beer garden. Upstairs for another room with darts, pool, TV's etc. Serves food. Close to railway ststion.

Absolutely LOVED it. We had heard the Food was now under a new Chef and team who were 'Something Else'... Well.. ? They were, as was the food! Mind-blowing good... great Service and atmosphere too.. We cannot rate this highly enough.. A real jewel in the Crown that is Lewes... 5 * Food Service and Ale! We will be...regulars.

Such a lovely cosy pub. Always has a great atmosphere, good range of brews on the Tap, and great food. Best of all, they're really accomodating and friendly to dogs.

Have been here a few times through the years. I meet an old work mate in Lewes for a beer. Decided to do a Saturday for a change and happened upon a DJ that absolutely ripped the place apart, totally awesome tunes. Funky as fook !!

Went here in September, to celebrate finishing college. Absolutely gorgeous place tucked away from the highstreet. Wonderful welcoming atmosphere, great food and lovely staff. Tad bit expensive but so worth it. Would definitely recommend! x

Ok, so this I will say is one of the best experiences I have had in a british establishment. Fried jackfruit was out of this world. The risotto with mint n pea risotto was finger lickin and the Cajun chicken moist on the inside. The staff and the owner chef were also delightful people. If you're in Lewes, do not leave without getting a drink and a meal here.
