   I was unfortunately publicly humiliated at this salon yesterday after booking an appointment for a hair extensions consultation, during which colour matching was discussed. When I arrived, they said they didn’t do extensions for the colours I had in my hair. I replied that this could easily have been sorted out in a more professional way beforehand on the phone before my having to travel all the way to this salon in Patcham, Brighton, for this extensions consultation. I had previously had a full colour consultation at Lauren Walder Hair before I had my hair coloured at a salon local to me, as no suitable appointment could be arranged at Lauren Walder Hair, preparatory to my having my extensions done. I had fully explained to the colourist at Lauren Walder Hair & Extensions salon at a previous colour consultation with her, my plans for having my hair colouring locally first and then having extensions done at Lauren Walder salon. I had also explained that I needed help with the condition of my hair. Lauren agreed to help with this on Instagram. I was excited for my consultation yesterday. But instead of helping me. yesterday I was dragged all the way from Rottingdean to Patcham, to this salon (two buses and over an hour’s journey) and spent 3 minutes in their chair, before being told they couldn't do my hair and that there were plenty of other salons that do extensions out there! This is just not good enough and really unprofessional as well. It also happened in front of all the other customers and I was nearly in tears. This whole process has taken three months of what I thought was my preparing to have my extensions done by Lauren Walder Hair and Extensions, only to be let down by this unprofessional salon where the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. The colourist has also denied any responsibility or mistake. As she would, I suppose, being the sort of place they have really shown themselves to be. During this “consultation” I was also told by the extensionist, “Yes YOU should have told us beforehand what colour your hair is”. And I DID. See pic of my Instagram message to her below. All I can say is, I am glad this salon didn’t do my extensions after all. The way I was treated in this salon yesterday, also had the faintest whiff of discrimination about it. I was the only person of colour in the salon and I felt treated as if everything was my fault, basically. I don’t want to be the bringer of bad news, but there was a marked difference between the way I was treated there and the way non-white customers were treated. There was also no further welcome in the salon for me and no other offer of either appointment or advice. I left the place very upset. I did not have my loyalty to this salon rewarded. Would-be customers can make their own minds up about this salon. But sorry, I really can’t recommend.

   Fleur did a fabulous job cutting my hair today and I am very pleased with the result. It was a great experience for my first time visit! Not only was she welcoming but also very attentive; listening really well before going ahead with cutting. (It also smells amazing in there!) I would definitely recommend this salon and will be sure to return in the future.

   Booked an appointment for a cut and blow dry. Arrived for appointment to be told stylist was off sick. They’d been trying to contact me. Would help if they had the correct number and not a wrong digit in the phone number! . No effort was offered at all to rectify the situation. Today, tomorrow or Saturday or any time after 4pm. She said no to every suggestion I made. Very disappointed.

Aside from the salon being a really beautiful environment to be in, Lauren is an absolute angel and a miracle worker. I am totally in love with my new hair and I honestly can't wait to come back!    Lauren was recommended to me & has been doing my hair for 5 years now. I am so pleased I found her, she is a hair guru! Truly a talented hairdresser. I wouldn’t trust my hair with anyone but her. I always get compliments on my hair colour & extensions. Not only does she give me amazing hair but also makes the experience unforgettable in her gorgeous salon!
