Had my hair cut by Alistair today. For the quality of cut the price was remarkably good value. Alistair himself was very knowledgeable and skilled, he took my rather vague instructions and was completely spotnon in making my hair look the way I wanted it. I recommend every get a trim here.

[Update: its been a week and no refund has hit my account, emails are being ignored] I've been here a couple times but recently had a rough cut from the people here. Asked for a trim not too much off the top, back and sides and the hair dresser proceeds to ignore my requests and give me short back and sides, I requested that length is left on top and they give me an inch to style with. She fully ignored everything I was saying, how I style it, how I prefer to wear it and cut it to her liking in the process othering myself and my own wants and desire for my own hair. As someone very introverted and self conscious about my hair it's left me in a nightmare situation where I just have to live with the cut given. I cannot in good faith say that the people here know how to work with my kind of hair after this experience and would advise people caution. I normally don't leave reviews but this was egregious compared to the lovely service I normally would've gotten but now I don't think I'll return even for a complimentary hair cut offered. Lou issued a refund but simply put I'm still dejected, angry and upset at what I've been subjected too especially as the only advice they gave me was to let it grow out or cut it shorter. No further help was given after that and I was informed to spend more money elsewhere buying styling products for their mistakes, again, egregious as I have to shove more money into a haircut I didn't want and furthermore didn't ask for. At the end of the day I had to visit another barbers for styling advice, retroactive cut to even out the sides and reintroduce the curls, styling demonstration and helped me locate product for a cheaper price. I loved this place before now I'm going to steer clear I suggest everyone with my kind of hair do the same. Amendment: (I showed videos and images, they show my hair much longer this was sent to Lou as well who confirmed they took it much shorter. Never did I threaten them, the most I ever mentioned was adding to this review. They requested for me to stop messaging them and I have, only follow up was requesting an apology from the barber and ETA on the product they recommended me to use.) At the end of the day, do I think the people here are bad at what they do? No, categorically if they have a business in this field then they are good at creating a space where people can come to them to express themselves through their hair. Do I think they lack experience with other types of hair? Yes categorically. Do I think the person who cut my hair that day is a bad person? No. They made a severe and continuous lapse in judgement, that caused the unfortunate cut I'm forced to live with for the next few months. Was their apology lacking in tack and heart yes. Am I disappointed in the service I was provided, the information I was told and the manner at which they treated me in the following days? I'm sure everyone can empathise with a bad cut but being told I have to spend more money to style it, offered no demonstration of how to style it and consistently told that they are not obligated to help past the point of a refund so talking with Lou has been nothing but disheartening, infuriating and depressing. I'm explaining why I will not be going back, how I was treated and why I advise caution to people who have different types of hair from the norm to steer clear (Update: Lou used the idea of my mental health to fully shut down the discussion take that as you will.)

So I live round the corner from this place, and walk past it every day going to the bus stop. Throw in a recommendation from a cool workmate and I had to give it a try! I'm glad I did. Covey was calm, interesting, and a true expert. Best haircut I've had in years and will be returning regularly :)

Everyone at Wild Side are absolute gems, they were extremely accommodating after only having reached out for a last minute cut the morning of my appointment. Ali is a very skilled and confident stylist, and was very happy to listen to my requests and cut my long hair into something shaggy and fun, I'm so happy with how it turned out. Thanks again!

I had my hair cut here for the first time this week by Dee. It's the best haircut I've ever had! Really comfortable appointment and I'm just over the moon with the result. Worth every penny and Dee is so lovely. I would highly recommend her! I loved that she cut my curly hair dry first before washing and styling. It has made me feel so much better.

endless thanks and celebration for emily, who was tender and patient with me and shaped my head back into a cut / embodied look after i received a really bad hair cut elsewhere. i was decently emotional /am incredibly tied to hair and its meaning as a non-binary person.. i was being FUSSY. not only did she recover me but i also really really love this cut, and think its what i was after all along. TYTY for your gentleness.
