The new self checkout system is ridiculous. There’s like 20 of them and they only open a few at a time so the queues are horrendous. Makes no sense.

They used to employ people on tills, then they removed all of the tills except 2 which are not open on the evening. So now there is a massive queue for the self checkouts all times of the day which don't all work, and many older people can't use. Aldi, who in 2024 made £435.5 million in profit, could easily employ more people on tills but chose profit over customer experience. Shop elsewhere.

Generally a good store but the queues can be very long at some times of day, although if I go in after 9pm it’s very quiet. Currently being refurbished and scheduled to reopen on August 28th. Literally a shell at the time of posting this review. UPDATE: engineering work finished on time (unlike on the railway!) and all-new fridges down most aisles, a new expanded self-checkout area has up to 19 tills with a parallel queue area, meaning access to the important wine and beers area isn’t space restricted by the queues. A good refurbishment that hasn’t moved stuff around unnecessarily, leading to wasted time trying to find what you went in there for.

The newly renovated Aldi opened its door..and it was a real surprise.. the store looks beautiful.. with nee layout and more protection of the products it looks polished.. the storage areas are more linear and more space for customers to move around.. All essential products under one roof that too at an affordable price.... Good quality products... Be it seafood, meat, snacks, dairy products, bakery... Everything available... The products are awesome

There was a group of us wanting to go in at 4.50 on a Sunday afternoon, but they refused with the excuse that there were too many people in the store. This was simply untrue - they just wanted to get off early. That's fine - but then change your stated closing time to 4.50 - and don't mess your customers around and lie to them.

Really poor management; 1. They now close the half of self-service check out when there is only 1 staff member to staff them. 2. The checkout staff are asking to look in customers' bags due to thefts. Not even sure that's legal. 3. Horrendous queues during peak hours with no tills being opened to accommodate. 4. Prices on a lot of items are now cheaper elsewhere due to their huge price hiking. 5. Homeless camp permanently outside and growing by the day. 6. Just one security staff member for the entire store whist every other supermarket has at least two. 7. Most fresh produce have poor use by dates. Shop sparingly here now, and I now avoid this stressful shop as much as possible.

Not busy in store at all at 10am on a Monday morning. Definitely Easter is the next national holiday as that's probably reason for the extra pallet loads of Easter eggs in store. The size and/or number of homeless people and piles of duvets seems to be bigger every week.

Excellent pricing and open until 10pm march which makes a big difference, especially if you're busy. A wide selection as you'd expect, the store suffers from being too small for just how busy it always is no matter what time you go. But the new self service tills makes things a lot better. The highest point is the alcohol selection is knock out.
