   I posted a very positive review on here on the day that I used Philip Powell for the first time, but since then they have let me down. After fitting a new alternator, Phil told me that I didn't need a new battery. After the car wouldn't start the next day and on subsequent occasions, he then said that I did need a new battery as well. Whoever did the job at Phil's garage then fitted the battery incorrectly - I should have realised this as on the day I picked it up, there was a CHECK STOP START message on the dash, which kept coming up. Over the next few weeks, I noticed that the car would barely start in cold weather, and kept turning over. I took it to a garage in Reepham (RGS) for its MOT and also asked them to check it out - they confirmed that Phil's garage had fitted the battery incorrectly: the battery monitor plug was off and pushed down the battery tray. They had to refit the monitor and recode the battery. I was charged £55 for this work, all because Phil's garage didn't do it properly. I emailed Phil to ask for a £55 reimbursement from his garage, and sent him the invoice from Reepham. He did not reply, so on the 16/3/2023, I phoned him up. He said that fitting the battery incorrectly was an 'oversight' and that I could have some complimentary work done at his garage so that they could 'redeem' themselves. I didn't want this, and Phil refused to cover the £55. He said that he would think further about it and phone me back - he never did. I was going to complain to the IMI, but I don't think that Phil is a member. I emailed Phil again and quoted Citizen's Advice: "If the work wasn't done with reasonable skill and care, you have the legal right to get the work done again or get a price reduction." Clearly, the work was not done with reasonable skill and care, yet as it stands Philip Powell Autoworks is refusing to give me a price reduction. I will continue to pursue this as I should not have to pay another garage to fix substandard work from Philip Powell Autoworks.

   WOW - after many years of trying to find a decent and honest mechanic I've finally found one, whilst other so called 'specialists' told me my 6 year old Range Rover was beyond economical repair and needed a new engine Phil and his team identified the issues quickly, put my mind at rest, carried out the repairs at a very reasonable cost and with no fuss. I'll definitely be using your services again and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending you to others - keep up the good work guys and THANKS!!

   I have been using Auto works for over 3 years now and never had an issue, all the works to our trade and personal cars are now carried out by Phil and co. Totally trustworthy, first class service, always available to help and very fair on the pricing. We no longer ask Phil for a price for a job as we know we will get the best job at the best price.
