   Honestly, I've become a bit of a Lidl convert recently! I popped in for a few basics and ended up leaving with a trolley full of goodies and barely dented my wallet. The fruit and veg are always surprisingly fresh and last longer than what I get at some of the bigger supermarkets. And their own-brand stuff? Honestly, some of it is just as good, if not better, than the branded stuff I used to buy, especially their coffee and the biscuits! I also love the 'middle aisle' – it's like a lucky dip every time! You can find anything from gardening tools to quirky kitchen gadgets, and the prices are always a steal. I picked up a really decent set of gardening gloves last week for a fiver! The staff at my local store are always friendly and helpful too, which makes a difference. It's not a fancy experience, but it's efficient, good value, and I always feel like I've got a bargain. Definitely recommend giving Lidl a proper look if you haven't already!

   No self service checkouts, so there can regularly be long queues. The pontardawe store has the self service checkouts and makes things much more convenient when you don't have a trolley full.

   Just popped in for a few of things on the way to an appointment. Only two checkouts open, and a queue of trolleys at each. It seemed clear that I was going to have to wait a pretty long time to checkout, so ended up having to leave without the items I'd intended to purchase. I actually heard a member of staff call for more checkouts to be opened, as they could see people (myself and my wife) walking out. It was a bit late for us at that point. It's not a store I'd choose to shop at in the future.
