I didn't think I'd ever be writing a positive review for a letting agency however I really do want more people to have the opportunity to deal with decent, proactive and kind people when having to rent. I have had absolutely awful experiences with previous companies before and so Town & City has been a breath of fresh air, the small team have always been quick and attentive, both individuals I've dealt with have been really nice and helpful and have gone out of their way to make sure things were working as needed. They treat you like humans and act like humans too which is unfortunately often not the case, especially with larger companies. Jorge even offered and came over to explain how to use our boiler as we hadn't lived in a property with a gas boiler before when we first moved in. They've always been very quick to reply and have always quickly repaired things with a nice team of very friendly plumbers, electricians etc. As an LGBT couple we have often felt worried about strangers coming into the house but everyone T&C uses have been friendly and respectful, as were Jorge and Sophie. When we moved in a friend said we were lucky to have this agency, and we were,and waited until our tenancy/checkout/deposit was all sorted before leaving a review, and now I can say yes, they really are good and fair to their tenants. We were extremely lucky to have Town & City, if I were to rent again in Brighton I would specifically use their website rather than the usual apps as I think it would be worth going with them over any other local company. Best lettings agents ever. Seriously. In a world full of dismissive and self-serving lettings companies, Town & City have never let us down. They are thoughtful, genuinely kind people who are a delight to work with. Whenever we've had the rare issue, we've never had to wait for a response, and they've always handled any of our concerns with speed and care. Jorge and Sophie are class - you can tell they really care about people, and we TRUST them completely (which is hard to find in today's market, especially after the horror stories both we and our friends have faced at the hands of previous lettings agencies.) My partner and I have repeatedly said that if/when we move from our current place, we will be looking to stay with Town & City if we have any say in the matter! Town & City/Jorge & Sophie, you guys rock!
Interesting set up and very poor way of conducting business. Enquired on a property and was provided the bare minimum in available times/dates to view despite the property being vacant. Booked a viewing only to be told last minute that it had been let. They followed up with a second property which I then subsequently went to view. Asked for a midday viewing which they refused due to tenants being unable to accommodate. I made things work for them and was then rushed round the property - in and out in under 2 minutes and the current tenants explained as we were leaving anytime suited them to view. Interesting. Registered my interest expecting to be required to complete an official form like every single letting agent elsewhere requires. Instead they asked for details via text which they would later submit to the landlord. To no surprise the landlord 10 minutes later accepted another offer which baffles me given the details I provided. Feels like a jekyll Lettings agent, perhaps early days? Acquiring information to build a database while they have few properties/tenants. This would be further suggested given just the 2 available properties on the website. Would advise swerving for those looking to move.
Jorge and Sophie have been an absolute dream of Letting Agents. After all the bad stories I heard, finding Town and City Residential Letting has been a godsend. They took time to understand my situation and did the utmost to help me to get my dream flat (with a dog!) and looked after me from day one. Nothing was ever an issue, they communicate very clearly, no hidden fees. When I moved out, they even sent my router back to my internet provider as I was out of town. I can honestly say, they are the best letting agents in Sussex and around. Thank you Jorge and Sophie, I will forever be recommending your services to everyone I know!
Estate agents that actually care for you. When a silent leak was discovered in my new girlfriend's new apartment and the whole place had to be renovated, but the work couldn't begin until she had moved out. Jorge saved us, and the landlady who owned the place. We were on the phone at 7am every single day trying to be the first to view any cat friendly apartments with a garden for two months straight. No luck, whilst all the while fighting the mould and damp that was engulfing every corner of every room. We were desperate to stay in Brighton together, otherwise she would have to move across the country, and we were out of time. Seeing our plight, Jorge went extremely far out of his way to persuade a landlord to not sell but rent to us after previous tenants had caused trouble. He vouched for us and made sure we got the place. Because of this, me and my partner had our magical Brighton summer that solidified our relationship going forward and are now living elsewhere in the country together. Because of this, we'll never forget Jorge and all he did for us.
Wonderful letting agancy! Very responsive and great communication. I am a tenant with them, and Sophie is an amazing agent, she helped me so much in securing my flat and answering all my questions. I haven’t worked directly with Jorge but he has been very supportive of our tenancy. Cannot recommend this company enough and I feel very lucky to have a great letting agency.
Very professional and responsive agency. Sophie went above and beyond in finding me the most amazing apartment and dealt with everything so quickly and efficiently . I would recommend using this agency!
Just went for a viewing today. To be courteous I waited until 5 past prearranged time to call and ask where the agent was. Took 2 attempts to get through and spoke to a very rude woman who informed me the property had been let last week and they had "literally" called me and if I didn't answer they've left me a voicemail. I have had no missed calls, voicemails or texts. They have the correct number as they text me my confirmation. The woman was not even remotely apologetic or sympathetic to the fact they had completely wasted my time. I am livid.
We have just ended a tenancy with Town and City after almost three years with them and we could not recommend them more! They are professional, attentive, friendly, but most importantly they’re quick with everything. Whether it’s a repair or a general question - we’ve never had to wait more than a day to hear back. They were very helpful with the move out and made sure we had all the information we needed to make it a smooth process. All the best to Jorge and his team.
