   I saw Lacuna Coil here on the 29th. Great place, staff were friendly and supportive, checked on me throughout the night when I looked a bit lost. I have a disability and they accommodated my extra needs. Loved the disco ball!! Only 4 stars because it is quite dirty and so so stuffy, they’re meant to have a ventilation system since Covid era but if there is it’s certainly not working sufficiently.

   Chalk is a weird shape for a venue, and beware that bands are often on stage earlier than you might expect. Screens above the bar showing a feed of the performances helps create a space that's safe and fun for those aren't so fond of crowded rooms, and the sounds had always been good when I've visited. Support small venues!

   A new venue for me to see a band but was quiet nice. I think the stage could be slightly higher raised so that its easier to see the band. All standing as far as I could tell. No bitter on tap alot of Brighton it seems has turned the taps off on it. Good sound quality of the band saw Sigrid acoustic set for the release of her 3rd album. Arrived later deliberately too avoid the queues excepted, they had set up a metal rail system weaving around Poole Valley. The outside security staff were very friendly and nice not always the case at venues. Would go their again if a band I wanted to see were playing their. Not a large venue this is what I like, around 800 capacity so quiet intimate setting which is nice. Went by train to be able to have a few beers, also parking in Brighton is difficult and not cheap. But they cancelled the 10:47pm & 11:10 and put a bus service on which took around an hour to get to the station I wanted in stead of 10mins. Nothing to do with the venue itself but just be aware of the travel experiences needed if you dont live in Brighton.

   A great small venue in the middle of Brighton. Went to see Heaven 17, who were outstanding, and where ever you stand you can easily see the stage. Bar staff and entry staff very friendly. There are a couple of seats but generally this is a standing only venue.

   For students I highly recommend Thursday nights. Drinks are incredibly cheap before 12:30am and the music is decades of pop. You're guaranteed to know the songs and have a great dance! Drinks remain very reasonably priced at other times too. Cloakroom is only £2 which is useful and the toilets are very well-kept for a club. I would say though that there is a consistently long queue for the smoking area throughout the busiest hours of the night, and the area itself is small. Therefore it's difficult to get any fresh air. Regardless, I would still suggest a Thursday night out to any student as you're bound to have loads of fun!

   Went on a Monday night, club feels very packed and pushy, the dj really was not great (the transitions between songs were completely incoherent and not in sync, each song is basically played till the end, and it was not the best music to dance to…). The queue to the smoking area is very long for a tiny space confined by barriers called a “terrace”. The club was also a lot less dark than other clubs which set a strange mood. Chalk’s strong point was the very cheap drinks (a single was £2,60 , double was £3,60 approx)…

   Pretty good venue for smaller gigs. Bouncers are polite and helpful, as are the bartenders. If you're teetotal, bring your own nonalcoholic drinks. The ones they sell are very overpriced (£4.50 for a bottle of water, and £7.50 for coke).

   Great selection of acts - seen Boris, Russian Circles, Blanck Mass, and Snapped Ankles myself - in a decent sized space harbouring a utilitarian design ethic. Staff always pleasant and the sound is good, little embellishments beyond this, but when the music is playing you don't need much else.
