    Very pleasant service provided by this taxi driver. He was very helpful. I have a client with a disability walker and he helped me by putting the walker in the boot and helping to get my client in the taxi.

    DO NOT USE!! SERVICE IS A SCAM. We used this service to get from Lewes premier inn to a local business park last weekend as we were new to the area and could not drive. Absolutely appalling driver who failed to follow the sat nav and got lost 4 times, making the wrong turns (on purpose??), breaking traffic laws regarding lane usage and traffic lights, missing exits in roundabout and failing to follow basic instructions. At one point, the driver was lost and almost veered into another vehicle whilst swiftly changes lanes (and not indicating). The driver then had the cheek to charge us full price for all the mistakes!!! We paid £9.92 for a journey that was less than 1 mile according to Google and should have cost no more than £5. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

    GM used to be much more reliable and friendly, and you always got through to someone sat in the office. Since being taken over by Western cars this has gone drastically downhill. Have had 2 experiences recently where I have booked a taxi in advance, only to be called up AFTER the confirmed time to say that the taxi is just "5 minutes away". I could see on their tracker the first time that the taxi was at least 20m away (turned out it was 30 mins delayed). The second time, we had to make last minute rearrangements because we were called at the pick up time to say that the taxi would be at least 15 minutes late. Knowing the traffic on Ham Lane, there was no chance that delay would get us to the station on time for our train. Guy on the phone couldn't hang up fast enough and was dismissive. Was told I should just sit and "hope that it turns up soon". What a joke. Won't be using this service again and will be warning others off it. The prices have also increased and it can be nearly 15 quid for a journey that takes less than 10 mins (if they turn up). Drivers have been apologetic and blamed the new booking system, which I can believe. You need to stop trying to force the electronic systems that clearly are not working, get some staff that know some manners, put someone in the actual office who knows how to deal with bookings rather than someone sitting in some anonymous office based clearly outside of Lewes, drop the prices, and finally, actually show up on time or message people well in advance if there's a problem with the booking. It is clear from most of the reviews that this is a common experience of GM since the takeover. What a shame and such a disappointment. I look forward to getting the same auto response that others have received to tell me how "disheartening" it all is. Give me a break guys get it together.

    Their drivers, many of whom are unable to read or write, constantly park in the loading bay. Yet, the moment you use the taxi rank for loading or unloading, they become upset and make an issue of it

    I booked a taxi for the morning. Received a text message confirmation. 10 mins before the due arrival time I called to check that it was coming. I was told I didn’t have a booking. I then had to run with three bags to get a bus to the station. If I hadn’t called 10 mins before I would have missed my train which was a long distance journey with connections. The person I spoke to on the phone in the morning said that my taxi had been cancelled I then saw I had a missed call at midnight from another number. If they had to cancel why didn’t they send a text or leave a message. It’s completely irresponsible. If you’re reading the reviews and think it can’t be that bad, it is. I used to use GM Taxis and Western Cars as it is now called is trading on their previous good reputation. Please don’t use if you need to get somewhere.

    I never leave reviews but had such a nice journey this morning from Lewes to Brighton. My driver was Graham and he was so lovely! I don’t really like getting taxis as I feel quite vulnerable as a young woman but he was so lovely we chatted the whole journey ☺️ Thanks again Graham!

    I have always used GM taxis in Lewes. Very punctual & polite drivers. Remember to book in advance for the weekend if possible as they get super busy.
