Excellent service. Support and assurance was second to none. Can't thank the mayday team enough, Victoria, who helped us home with medical assistance was a star. Can highly recommend.

My 84-year-old mother came out to France to visit me in April 2025 and on her 2nd night here fell out of bed, breaking her leg. After she was admitted to hospital, I phoned the insurance company who passed us immediately to Mayday Assistance to assist us with advice and expected repatriation. The service from Mayday Assistance was truly outstanding. Lee and Rowan regularly stayed in touch, not only asking about my mother’s progress but also checking in on how I was coping. They kept me updated regarding the paperwork required from the hospital, while I kept them posted as my mother faced postoperative complications. My mother was discharged to my care after 2 weeks but after being bed-bound for another 2 months, was becoming very difficult and frustrated. The help and support I received from Lee and Rowan at Mayday was first class. A special mention goes to Lee, who was incredibly supportive—like a guardian angel—and showed genuine care and compassion throughout. I would absolutely recommend Mayday Assistance to anybody who finds themselves in this unfortunate situation and would not hesitate to use their services again.

My mother took ill recently while on holiday in Tenerife, and ended up in hospital for 5 days. We required s medic to accompany us back to the UK and Stuart from Mayday Assistance was amazing with my 94year old mother. I can’t praise him enough. Mayday Assistance also checked in with me every day to make sure we were okay. I can’t thank them enough for all their help. Margaret Scott

My partner was taken ill the night before we were due to fly home, he was admitted to critical care and when I spoke to mayday I was told they couldn’t guarantee paying for me to stay there with him, which left me no option but to fly home on my own. Being the end of our holiday we had no money left and I had nowhere to stay either. He later passed away on his own in Turkey. The same day he died they sent me a form to give my permission for his medical records to be released and expected it to be filled in the same day. After that contact I heard nothing from them for just under a week. I was to distraught to get in contact with them before, however when I did contact them I was told that I wasn’t his next of kin and they would no longer deal with me. This policy was taken out jointly and we had lived together for about 5 years. Any correspondence I had with there after was extremely abrupt and callous on their side. I asked about our suitcase that had his belongings in it, but also some of my items and our car and house keys in it and was told to speak to his family, which I had only met twice in over 5 years as we lived a long way from them. I explained to the insurance this and that I felt sending my keys etc to them was putting the safety of my home, car and myself at risk as they were virtual strangers to me. They still sent the case to them and then decided that they shouldn’t have but didn’t bother to stop the delivery. They arranged to have it collected and delivered to me. The case had been broken into and all the belongings of any value were missing including his car keys and my house keys. My spare car key was left loose in the case. This has taken 3 months to get to this point and still ongoing. This company is an absolute disgrace and should not be allowed to trade. They don’t even deserve a one star

I dont know how I would have coped without Mayday's assistance. I was stuck in a French hospital and trying to get my "normal" Insurance company to repatriate me. Once, Mayday took over, things started moving. There were still hiccups, due to lack of admin staff in the French hospital, but Mayday always answered my emails, even the lovely Anne who did the night shift. The wonderful ambulance crew from Plantinum Ambulance Service also did a fab job on the 15 hour trip from France to my home. Tim and Tiffany were friendly, helpful, and made the trip as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Many many thanks to Mayday.

mother fell in the shower in Egypt on May 2022, despite numerous calls and emails, we are now in January 2023 this is still outstanding. No sense of ownership from anyone at the company no desire to ring you back, avoid at all costs

I had to use Mayday as they were the emergency assistance provider when my nan had suffered a near fatal injury in March 2022 whilst on holiday. Their first responder was great but subsequently, we had to hire and pay for our own translator as their team did the bear minimum. I've been trying to contact someone within their team as they've not responded to the hospital regarding the EUR 30,000 bill that they haven't covered. It's a simple fix - they just have to forward an email stating it's covered under the insurance but you cannot speak to anyone. I've been emailing and calling for months and not once single reply. It's not October 2022 and still no reply.

Simply the worst company I have ever dealt with, while on holiday I fell ill and was admitted into intensive care, Mayday was slow to react and gave us no updates or information so while I had to stay in hospital for further care, the hospital asked me every day to phone this Insurance company as the hospital had no feedback from them either, without the much needed input from this insurance company, I was a hostage until the bill was paid, It was that bad we have the British consulate involved who are aware of this insurance company and the lack of pay outs and complete disregard that there was a human being who was very sick and completely desperate to hear from them, despite phoning them everyday, I not only felt totally abandoned by Mayday assistance I was totally abandoned by them, On the day of my release no one was available as my claim was with the underwriters so while the underwriters took their time over the wording, I was left unable to leave the hospital meaning I had to stay unnecessarily for another 4 days which the Insurance company want me to pay for. Fortunately I was lucky enough to find another patient with the same useless insurance company who kindly let me sleep on a sofa bed in her room. until I was released, even then the Mayday expected me to stay for another 7 days minimal but I had no faith in this company and by then I was not convinced they had my welfare as a priority so I ended up paying my own flights home when they threatened to revise my fit to fly status. This experience has been traumatic to say the least and had left me having actual nightmares. The company are that bad that the British consulate are taking an interest in this company and I would advise anybody not to book with them, this company was selling insurance for Jet2 which has now been switched to Rock insurance.

Our travel insurance was with Staysure. When my husband was taken ill on holiday in Egypt they passed us over to Mayday Assistance as ours was a more complex case. The medical treatment we received was excellent and Staysure have covered all costs no problem at all. What has been difficult and stressful has been the slow poor and inconsistent communication with Mayday Assistance. We never spoke with the same person twice. Emails were ignored or we got late replies. They just didn't make us feel we were in capable caring hands. They never once asked how my husband was or was there anything we needed. They did the job but it was the very bare minimum of care.
