I stopped for a drink with my aunt a couple of weeks ago and was slapped with a £100 parking fine. I saw the 'patrons only' sign as I was parking, but didn't notice anything beyond that. Apparently you need to enter your details on a terminal inside the pub. The staff didn't say anything. My car was a rental, so the rental firm have added a £45 admin charge. I've tried to contact the pub over the past few days, by e-mail, FB messenger and phone, to help me to clear up this misunderstanding, but nobody is responding. I will happily remove this review if they finally do respond and help me to resolve the issue. But I would highly recommend that the pub change its parking policy. It is convoluted and disproportionate and is tarnishing the pub's reputation. EDIT: Still no reply from the pub. I submitted evidence of my patronage (credit card receipts) to Parking Eye. They said: "The signage located at the above car park instructs motorists to enter their full, correct vehicle registration into the payment machine or terminal on site. After reviewing our records, we are unable to locate any vehicle details that match your vehicle registration." So, according to them, credit card receipts proving my patronage of the pub was not sufficient. They offered me a reduced fine of £20, which I reluctantly paid because my life is busy and stressful enough already. This is on top of the £45 'admin fee' that the car rental company charged me. In summary, disgusting conduct all around, and my 1-star review stands.

Staff are always lovely and friendly nice little local with a great little sun trap beer garden. If I were to be picky I'd say the beer garden could do with a tidy up and a little revamp.

Popped here today with the pug after a walk. Had a refurb and its absolutely lovely. 1 braised steak and 1 lasagne. Varied menu and reasonably priced. Not sure what prices the drinks are as only had pop. Will definitely call again.

I have to be honest and say the Red Lion has had a turbulent few months with a few changes in management. This afternoon I decided to give it another go and I have not been disappointed. The menu has been revised and prices much more affordable. Good selection of choices on menu including vegetarian. I went for the braised steak and was not disappointed. Excellent food and well presented. Service was excellent. Staff were very friendly. The decor for Halloween was awesome and it feels like there is some soul coming back into this pub finally! What ever the new management are doing keep doing it. Well done. I will definitely be coming back again.

Rebranded as a gastro pub. Has fab nooks to facilitate an array of seating choices. Live music, order food and drinks at the bar. Don't be bothered to book a table, didn't make any difference. Otherwise good atmosphere. Sharing plates are good sized, food average. Pleasant overall.

Little drop-in for lunch after shopping. Clean and newly refurbished. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good range of food on the menu. The fish and chips was excellent. Red Lion ale went down very nicely. Not strictly "local" for us but definitely worth the walk there for a decent pint.
