We visited Carnivore by the Mine after seeing it all over social media and wanted to find out what the fuss was about. And honestly, I can see why it is getting so much attention. The food they are serving up is top notch. There were a few small frustrations with the food itself, like the Indian style burger, which was quite tricky to eat, and the wooden boards they serve on aren’t the most practical for cutting. That said, the flavours more than made up for it. The T-bone steak was the centrepiece for me was cooked perfectly, even if a few bits were a little tough. The chicken bao buns starter was the highlight though, absolutely packed with flavour. And of course, we had to try their famous cheesecake, which lived up to the hype and did not disappoint. The portion sizes here are amazing and really make it good value for money. Where the experience fell short was the service and the setup. After starters, we had to ask for cutlery, and when we did, we were told it was on the bar. When my steak came out, I had to ask again for a steak knife. Drinks were lovely but took quite a while to arrive, and one round we ordered never came at all. The location is quite unique. It’s tucked down an alley behind a Premier Inn shop, in what I believe used to be a stock room that’s been turned into a very small restaurant. It’s cosy and has a certain charm, but it also feels like the place has outgrown the space. There’s no real check-in area, and it can feel a bit cramped when it’s busy. At one point they were bringing beer kegs through the dining room, which broke up the atmosphere a bit. Some of the little touches, like the lightweight tables, felt a bit cheap, but honestly, I think that’s just a sign that Carnivore by the Mine is ready to move on to something bigger. With a larger space and more attentive front of house service, this place could be something really special. I’d love to see how it grows, because the food alone is worth the visit.

Absolutely stunning food, the front of house staff were very helpful and friendly, the cocktails were lovely. We kept seeing videos on Tiktok and really wanted to try the food for ourselves and everything exceeded our high expectations. Honestly cannot wait to come back

It was our first time at Carnivore by the Mine and it did not disappoint. We had seen it a little on social media, but usually when you see restaurants advertise on there the hype is usually better than the food and experience. Well, that certainly isn’t the case here. If you didn’t know it was there, it would easily have been missed, which I thought added too the quirkiness of the whole experience. Look out for the sign! As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with a warm, cosy, beautifully decorated restaurant. It’s not huge, which makes it even better and more intimate. We came with a 7 year old, but my husband and I both agreed how lovely it would be for a romantic date, anniversary or valentine dinner. The menu is clear and very reasonable priced, they clearly know what they are good at and the they do it well. Steaks and sides, what more could you ask for. The food was 10/10, no notes needed. We had steak, truffle fries, the broccoli and one of the stars of the show- Crispy sweet chilli chicken - a must order. Dessert was stunning, the famous cheesecake is famous for a reason! Get it. Staff were lovely, attentive and not all over you constantly which was a bonus. They don’t take tips via card, so bring cash for that! We will be back again and again! Lovely to see a little home grow restaurant performing to such a high standard. Worth the drive from wherever you are.

Lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Service a little slow but there were only two serving and it wasn't an issue for us. Would definitely recommend

Lovely food here would 100% recommend. There was an issue with our order and we waited quite a while but it was sorted quickly once they realised there was a problem. Can't fault the waitresses at all or the quality of the food. Served with little shovels which is a nice touch.

Fabulous meal at The Mine this evening. Had gorgeous halloumi fries; beautiful crispy coating and such generous portion. My partner had garlic prawns and they were delicious! Had the bombay bad boy for main and katsu upside down naan. Lovely sauce, with tasty chicken and fluffy rice. Desserts were also stunning and generous portions! highly recommend a visit

What a place! If you haven’t been, you need to. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. Not only child friendly but accommodating with their additional needs too. This food tastes even better than it looks, which is also pretty awesome too. Honestly, you won’t be disappointed!

Unusual setting, staff were brilliant. The food though...good grief. Lovely and immense portions. You will be taking some home or you will end up like Mr Creosote. Can't recommend it enough.

Absolutely stunning food at great prices considering the portion sizes. It's a small restaurant but doesn't feel cramped and we had plenty of space at the table for a high chair and a buggy. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Fingers crossed we can book again - I now know why it's so difficult to get a table.
