An addition to my previous 5 star review: - This time I was let down and having run a reasonably large business myself (60 staff) I am on the opinion that the staff have a very different attitude to customer service than the management. I was in Devon and found a large nail in my tyre just as I was about to return home. No one in the area could make an urgent repair so I phoned Trevelyan’s and helpfully was told, I suspect by management, that they could repair my tyre early the following morning, which was a Saturday. I agreed to this and drove home at lowish speed. I arrived late afternoon on the Friday and called in to just check if they wished to effect the repair there and then rather than on Saturday morning as previously arranged. Understandably the boss said they were busy so I confirmed I would attend first thing on Saturday morning as previously arranged. Great service! As taking a wheel off is a dirty job I throughly cleaned the wheel in the dark on Friday evening. I woke early on Saturday and took my car to Trevelyan’s as previously twice agreed. I was met by an employee and when I explained the arranged tyre repair was met with a very negative attitude. I was told “we only do MOTs on Saturdays” and to bring the car in on Monday but “you will have to leave it with us in any case”. Obviously I feel very disappointed with this negativity especially as I had twice made a definite arrangement and I very strongly suspect the staff run the business to suit themselves when there is no oversight from management. Rather than be potentially messed about again I went elsewhere. Reputations are very hard won and very easily destroyed. If a customer encounters good service elsewhere then they are very likely to continue to use the alternative service provider in the future. I have given 2 stars rather than 1 in view of previous service when management are around in the garage. Very helpful when my wife had a large nail in her tyre. Promptly sorted at sensible cost. Didn’t try to sell unwanted services unlike some tyre repair specialists (my experience is the tyre technicians try to say new brakes, shock absorbers, exhausts are required even if they definitely are not!). Also provided MOT testing on my specialist classic sports car without turning things into a drama. Will certainly use in the future.

The worst experience i have ever had with a mechanics. A few months ago, i booked in for a repair and when i arrived, three blokes sat around on chairs didnt even acknowledge my presence. I was just stood there like a spare part (excuse the pun). After 15 minutes, i piped up and informed one of them i had an appointment and asked who do i leave my keys with and one of them asked if i was booked in. I informed him i was and the time i had been given and he informed me that they were very busy right now and could i come back later on. No regard whatsoever that people book days off work to sort these things out and have other commitments and i politely explained i had made an appointment and was up against it. Another gentleman then joined in that seemed of authority and informed me they were literally rammed with work and could i book again for another day. I was dumbfounded. Realising i was in a no win situation, i submitted and made another appointment which was for a week and a half away. The man apologised and expressed empathy with me (although he made no attempt to squeeze me in) and i went on my merry way. On the day of my next appointment, i thought i would be smarter this time and call the garage before leaving the house (I live in Rode Heath) just to be extra precautious of another wasted trip. A bloke answered the phone and said in a rush; 'we are mega busy right now mate, can you call back in a bit?' I tried to reply that i had an appointment and he cut me short and said; 'i'm really gonna have to go mate, if you can call back later on'. I was flabergasted and agreed. I called back two hours later and another bloke answered this time and informed me i was booked in two hours ago and had missed my appointment and would have to make another booking as they had 8 cars in the queue that afternoon. He informed me i would be looking at 3 weeks for the next available appointment. I declined the offer and said i would pop down in half an hour and speak with the owner. When i got down there, yet again it was as if i was invisible to these people. I eventually walked over to a ramp where a mechanic was underground and it was the same man that i had booked my second appointment with. He climbed out of the hole and walked me to his broom cupboard where the diary was and i reminded him of the entire scenario from day one. He said he couldnt remember me from last time. He apologised again and said he could get me in 'the week after next' which was better than 3 weeks and he went in to how very busy they were at the minute and just flat out. I told him to leave it with me and he politely waved me off. My experience with this place is a first for me and ive been using mechanics for over 25 years. It is outrageous at how wreckless they are with their time management and complete and utter disregard and disconnect at the commitments people have trying to arrange these things when you are a full time parent, in full time work. I wasted two days holiday. The apologies are all well and good but they simply dont give a toss in a polite manner. Its like they are in a world of their own down there. I also get 'clicky' vibes when i have visited there on the two occasions and that if you are not immediately one of the locals, you almost treat with contempt as if you are some sort of illegal alien. The chap that seems to be the owner is very polite and friendly but the rest of them are ignorant and although the owner is polite, he still has no regard for people that have made appointments and makes no attempt to honour the appointment. I am surprised all of the reviews on here seem to praise this garage and why there are not more bad reviews. It made me question whether to leave this review but then i thought, well maybe this is what has deterred others from leaving bad reviews, so ive decided to leave it anyway and maybe this will encourage other people to share their awful experiences with this garage. I spoke to a local person and he did inform me 'they were very set in their ways'.
