I want to paint you a picture: A world full of chain cafes selling overpriced drinks and tiny cakes that cost an arm and a leg! But, out of the darkness comes Project 229 Cafe! This is a lovely little venue, with a pleasant and dare I say rustic atmosphere. I was visiting the repair cafe in the adjacent community centre (it is the same building). I was astounded that a pot of tea only cost 50p! And the picture cake was only £2 but a generous portion! Seriously, the prices are too good to be true (except they are true) and the staff are lovely. Could not recommend more!

Lovely little charity cafe that is a pleasure to spend time in - skip the Starbucks and come here instead! Their drinks are ridiculously cheap as they aren't out to make a profit but are just as good quality as any other cafe's. The food selection is more limited but they get lovely cakes in on Mondays - well worth writing in your calendar! However, the building is more than a cafe: it is definitely a warm and welcoming community space. The cafe has a corner filled with board games and puzzles, you are welcome to work/hold meetings there, and there are weekly craft sessions, soup kitchens and more. You know you'll be met with a friendly smile and that any money you do spend there will go directly to a good cause.

Very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Good workspace with tea and coffee, wifi and accessible facilities. An oasis just set back off the high street.

We have enjoyed visiting the Bake cafe for the last few years & are sorry it is closing. We hope another cafe will be able to replace it at some point.

Brilliant project all round! The chiff chaff cafe is the best food for the best value & a great place to meet up with friends or colleagues. Very child friendly. The project offers the community so much including courses for men & women, fitness classes, dance, craft & recreation. The staff are friendly and helpful. A very warm welcome every time. Would encourage locals to get behind this project, support, sign up, get your own support here or just visit the cafe for a light lunch or coffee & scrumptious cake!
