   ThermoWood D T&G Cladding, decided to use the treated cladding rather than the hardwood offering significant cost saving. I am very happy with the end results, which should last for many years treated or untreated. Ensure you order more than required (as recommended) being natural wood there will be some lengths with splits etc. Great service from JF Timber with the delivery driver being very helpful and pleasant during off-loading

   Avoid at all costs. I ordered a quantity of Thermowood cladding from JF Timber, only to discover that a significant number of the boards were defective - including cracked profiles, missing tongues, knot fall out, and other faults that rendered them unusable. When I raised these issues, I was met not with a solution, but with aggressive and contradictory responses from the owner, including absurd denials, dismissive emails, and ultimately a refusal to replace the defective goods. What should have been a simple matter of supplying replacement boards escalated due to the owner’s irrational and increasingly hostile conduct. He made an offer of £250 to “go away” whilst denying there was an issue. He offered to collect the entire order, then refused to deliver replacements. Worse still, I was alarmed to discover that the business publicly disclosed my name and implied malicious intent in response to a review that wasn’t even written by me. This is a clear breach of the UK GDPR, and has resulted in a formal complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). I also issued a Subject Access Request (SAR) to understand what data may have been shared about me - the response so far has been nothing but contemptuous, and likely to result in further action. In addition, I have submitted a detailed complaint to the Timber Decking & Cladding Association (TDCA), of which JF Timber is a member. They are now investigating the company’s handling of the complaint and its failure to uphold the standards expected by their Code of Conduct. Due to the refusal to provide a proper remedy as per their obligations under the Consumer Rights Act, legal action is now underway. Incredibly, the owner publicly responded to my review by stating that the timber is “ThermoWood Pine,” implying that the defects I raised - particularly excessive knots and weaknesses - were to be expected. However, the company’s own website describes the product as “ThermoWood Cladding is a thermally modified redwood,” which is a different classification entirely. Redwood is generally regarded as higher grade, with fewer defects and a tighter grain. If the timber supplied was in fact pine, not redwood, this raises serious questions about misrepresentation. It seems the product is advertised one way but defended another when problems arise. I would strongly urge any potential customers to think twice before doing business with this firm. It has shown not just a lack of professionalism, but a total disregard for consumer rights and data protection law. If you encounter problems - and based on my experience, you may - don’t expect a rational resolution.

   Bespoke bin store with sedum lid completed with Western red cedar battens (divided into two narrow batts & oiled) from JF Timber. Very competitive price, wood good quality & great service. Prompt & professional. Collected laths so can’t comment on delivery but everyone at yard friendly & helpful. What’s not to like? :)

   Met James initially on Facebook Marketplace, I was looking for a bargain on timber cladding for my newly built garden room. Wanted Western Red Cedar and straight away he couldn't be more helpful. We carried on a dialog for a few days as I was working with a small budget and James worked hard to get me just what I needed within my budget. For my project we went with Siberian Larch. I can definitely say it was a pleasant experience working with a sales person who was more concerned that I got what I needed not just what would benefit his bank balance. James even suggested a product alternative to my initial thoughts as it suited my project better. James has a limitless pool of knowledge when it comes to timber and timber related products such as oils and stains. He was an amazing resource for me as my knowledge was none existent. James is just a down to earth grafter and all around nice guy. I will be recommending J.F. Timber Ltd. to all my friends and James will be my first port of call when I do my next project.
