The guide is attractively presented and full of useful information however I found that the real hotel prices were often much higher than indicated in the guide and that the suggested itinerary crammed too much into the time available. The hotels rarely had sufficient parking and choosing hotels outwith cities might have been more appropriate.
The driving tour provided us with a great route and choice of hotels in fantastic locations. Only downside was the listed timings were miles out and in future I recommend they need to allow for stops for food, enjoy the views, fuel and toilet breaks etc, but a minor issue overall as we were also blessed with perfect weather for most of the week of the tour. I have now participated in five of these tours and they have all been very enjoyable. The planning and attention to detail has been excellent and the result has been the opportunity to see some magnificent scenery and views all around Europe. The hard work and planning is done, we just enjoyed the tour! Thoroughly recommended!
Having personally planned several trips over past 30 years in Morgans, I have found often to my cost how difficult it is to get these trips right. Arriving at hotels after the restaurant closes or missing the ferry when distances aren't quite what they first seemed, doesn't go down too well with the co-pilot! I have now completed several of The Driving Tour itineraries. Absolutely brilliant. The hotels have been first rate with most having secure parking, the roads spectacular and we have really enjoyed the superb hidden food stops. Expert guidance such as this makes these trips truly memorable for the right reasons.

I bought one of the tours (The Red Wine Tour) for my husband for Christmas and it's brilliant. You get a bound printed itinerary; the one I bought had 63 pages including the route summary, the route for each day of the trip (shows how many miles and looks like it can all be easily done each day), recommended hotels, great places to eat for lunch & dinner, and things to do in each place. It's really good and so much cheaper than going on fully guided trips! This way he can go away with friends, and they can go at their own pace. He's really excited about booking the trip. All the research has been done so all he has to do is book the hotels that have been suggested! All the hotels are chosen because they have secure parking too, which helps as he has an expensive car! I'll let you know how he gets on after he's done the tour :-)
