Mike's is the best chippy for miles! The fish is consistently fresh with perfectly crispy batter, and the chips are always golden and well-portioned. The staff are friendly, and their quality has deservedly earned them national recognition—a true gem in Eastleigh.
The fish was freshly cooked. They tell you where the fish comes from, and what kind of potatoes have made your chips. The food itself was really good. The chips could have been a little bit more crisp, but maybe that's down to the variety! The service was absolutely excellent and prompt with a good estimation of how long it would take to cook it fresh. I would absolutely have another meal from this place. The batter is crispy. The food is fresh. What more could you want and it's all served with a smile. Do expect to pay for sauces which is completely fair. So order that with your meal if you need or want some
I wish I could say something nice about this place, but unfortunately, my visit was a disaster from start to finish. The fish was greasy and soggy, and the chips tasted like they’d been fried hours earlier and reheated, and the whole box and bag was drenched in cold oil. The staff were indifferent at best although I felt like I was inconveniencing them just by ordering food. I could see the younger staff were trying there best though, so pat on the back for them. But Definitely no interest in customer satisfaction. The atmosphere was equally depressing. The smell was less fresh seafood and more old sweaty fryer oil. It was the kind of place that makes you want to leave before your order even arrives. I left feeling queasy, both from the look of the food and the experience. Would not recommend to anyone, not even as a last resort.
First time here and not disappointed. Tasty chips and fish. They offer skin on or off which is great. Blue light discount available as well.
Quick polite service, good prices and portions, excellent chips, . Shame more fish and chip shops are no where near as good as this.
Ive ordered from Mikes for the past 30+ years and they have been fantastic. But the last 18months the portion of the fish has decreased significantly to the point were I had to write this review. The portions have halved in size compared to 2 years ago and the price has gone up to £12.30 for a portion of chips and very small cod. Won’t be ordering again.
Food is consistently great and always freshly prepared. I think a true sign of a good fish and chip shop is a queue, depicting freshly cooked food, Mike's always has a queue, which the staff serve quickly, what more can i say!
Chips under Cook burger get better ones from tesco no salad no sauce plain over cook burgers fish is OK and onion rings were good , no way I will ever go back
Deliveroo messed around with supplying our order but Mike made it again fresh for us and even sent a voucher with a handwritten apology. I was going to leave a great review anyway because the food was absolutely delicious but I felt more compelled to do so after receiving something so thoughtful from Mike. It speaks volumes about this business and I only wish there were more business owners in the world who were as down to earth. The haddock was amazing I definitely recommend adding it to your order!
