   We had a big staff meal in the private room on Wednesday. It was such a great space with lovely Christmas decorations. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Emily, Anna and Nat were so attentive and friendly. Also a big thank you to the chefs, Jake and Ash, who cooked us all such lovely meals. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and giving us such a nice time. Would definitely recommend!!

   I recently came in for a festive meal with my work colleagues. It was a perfect experience from start to finish. Greeted on our way with a huge smile from Erin was a great welcoming. The food was superb, the staff were superb and the whole thing was so welcoming and pleasant. Thank you to Erin and Anna for making us feel so welcome. Will definitely be back next year!

   Hiltingbury Pickleball Club held their Xmas meal last night. If memory serves me correctly we had 24 people attend. From the first time I popped in to organise something at relatively short notice through to organising payments at the end, the service we received was friendly, professional and a joy to deal with. The room was tastefully decorated and the tables were laid out very nicely. Tbh the staff are the experts at hospitality not me so why should I interfere. However if I would have asked for Santa to arrive I am sure they would have sorted it out. They are there to accommodate my wishes and appear to go the extra mile to make our night memorable. The food was very nice and the only issue was us not remembering who ordered what. The staff were there when we needed them, and in waiting should we need them. Every person who attended had a wonderful time all thanks to the staff at the King Rufus. See you next year

   Although I didn't eat on this occasion I watched many meals being served and they looked amazing...on this visit at 12:00pm there were at least 25 ladies dining. Super friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful. Slightly awkward walk from the disabled parking to the pub proper. Recommend.

   August 2022 A return visit since our last disappointed visit. Pleased to say the service and staff had greatly improved. This is the King Rufus standard as it was in the past. Food , staff and service very good. We will return, hoping this evening's experience can be repeated Had a birthday celebration, returned as the food was good on our last visit. Not eaten here or many pubs or restaurants since COVID restrictions started. December 2021's can only be described as very disappointed. On arrival we were second in the queue at the wait .for table. point. Nobody arrived for a few minutes. Eventually it was our turn to be taken to our table. Went to the bar to buy some drinks, the bar could have been on board the Mary Celeste. Not one member of staff available for several minutes to serve another customer or me. At last time to order our food. Food arrived quite quickly , hot food hardly hot, most of the food heat was lost to the plates. Not close to good pub grub. Simple dish of chips in a main course were cold, Replacement chips took 10 minutes to arrive. We we offered free desserts, but this hardly made up for poor meals. Not likely to return and have such an extremely disappointing evening repeated. November 2019 Used the cheap menu on this occasion. Food really good quality for all three courses Another return visit, ( Nov 2019) this time for a snack lunch and drinks. Service and staff very good, although the pub was quite busy the food arrived in good time and excellent quality. Very enjoyable lunchtime.

   Went for Sunday lunch and it was standard pub food, reasonably priced, service was poor though. Similar to many other reviews, be prepared for long waits to take your order, for food and to clear the table when you are finished.

   Popped in for lunch while in the area, greeted straight away by bubbly friendly staff. Enjoyed our drinks in the garden and didn't wait long for food. Calamari was tender and crispy and the spicy sauce was very tasty. Ultimate Mac and cheese didn't look all that, but was I wrong. Strong cheesy flavour, plenty of sauce and insta worthy cheese pull. Katsu chicken curry was crispy and tasty, rice was flavourful and not dry like many places. We will definitely return

   We arrived as a Family Party of 8 People, Staff started out well and they took our Order. We waited 35 mins for Starters which we had to Chase up (Kids were Desperate to eat. Despite 3 more requests to get our Main Courses we were told they were being plated up. Clearly the Kitchen could not managed as on the 3rd occasion the Chef came out and decided that we were being Unfair after a 1hour 45mins wait to question where our Food was! He then decided to state that he would Bar us if we could not wait 45mins for Food……..! The Poor Front of House Manager was Devastated and her Hands appeared Tied on what she could say and do! Needless to say she eventually accepted that we were Extremely Unhappy and Told us not to worry about the Bill and We could leave. Reading between the Lines the Chef and at least One Member of Front of House staff clearly had No Customer Service skills and could not cope with their Duties or Criticism. The Manager was Trying hard to meet expectations but was being let down by others, Possibly being Bullied. The Food fell well below our Expectations, Lettuce not Cleaned or Trimmed, Kids Burger dry, Steak over Cooked and other Food inedible or not wanted due to Staff Actions & Behaviour!
