Whoever plans the timetables should be binned off it’s a disgrace hundreds of kids finishing their days at the same time. It’s like last person standing when doing something simple as such as getting on a bus. It’s a disgrace. Full of false promises too. I’d really recommend giving it a miss.
It’s alright, I mean personally my teachers have no structure to their lessons which i find annoying. My course is pretty standard although the content is actually interesting the way it’s delivered is boring. Honestly, I can’t see myself getting grades that are actually that good because it’s so boring that it’s hard to stay engaged if it’s just my teacher going on and on. The buses are actually hell from like 3-4pm, you get shoved into the bus all the time. Why do so many people end college at the same time…it just makes it worse. That’s like my main problem with the college to be honest. Yeah the college is pretty standard to be fair, the campus has basically everything a college needs. The vending machines are lowkey so expensive though…
At the time of enrolment for my son’s second year we had numerous confirmations emails that he had a place! Emails stating what he needed to purchase but come the end of summer holidays they never sent start date email. When emailed we was told he had no place and was on a waiting list in case people drop out!!! I would avoid this place at all costs as it’s poorly run and leaves people at the last minute with no coarse! Horrid responses on emails basically saying class size was too big so dropped to keep it safe! Useless is all I can say as I’m trying to be polite!
I'd only recommend this college to people who don't have much more choice. There are some benefits here, such as the food is quite good albeit expensive, low entry requirements and in my experience, great teachers. But the management can be flawed. It isn't able to handle changes even over the period of a year, I submitted a complaint about a staff member and was brought into a meeting with that staff member sat in the room, alongside a senior staff member who I was meant to talk to. It feels like the higher ups are too busy feeding their ego and patting each other on the back rather than doing their jobs or bringing change for the better of the students / teachers. Due to this, an entire year of the course I had partaken in had a lot of ups and downs, with new hires sorted out in the middle of the year, content all over the place, assignments given out in bursts with shorter deadlines, and lessons not being taught with good timing. In the end I think most people were able to overcome this change, but being Autistic made it a lot more difficult. On the topic of that, the mental health support is a very mixed bag, as I knew people who had access to support quite often, whereas seeking it out I was left on read for months, even with check ups to the library I don't think I ever had one meeting regarding this. A lot of my college experience was quite dismal due to the inexperienced management in the department I studied in, where the more senior non-management staff (tutors, teachers and such) had both better ideas, and brighter opinions in the eyes of most of the students. The teachers and (most) of the students in my course are the only real reason I gave this a two star. It's really down to luck whether you get a good class or not, whether your department teachers are good at teaching, which in my case, most of them were very good at teaching and making reasonable adjustments / amendments to coursework where they actually want to see their students do the best they could in their modules. I am glad I finished my course here however, I managed to finish with high grades and have made some good friends along the way.
We would not recommend this school. At the time of enrolment, we were assured that our child would be able to pursue the chosen A level subjects. Unfortunately, it turned out that the selected subjects could not be taken, and our child was told to choose different ones instead. Students do not select their subjects in order to have to change them later. The school should not make promises it cannot keep, as this places students in a very difficult position. Such handling of the matter reflects poorly on the school and its commitment to prospective students.
I have just finished Level 1 MIG Welding as an Evening class, I must thank Anthony and Oscar for their patience throughout the Course, I enjoyed the class very much (my eyesight issues made me quite a difficult pupil).
I started my course in September and had to have some time after due to a very bad mental health conditjen tutor was not helpful when back for one class and explained what happened then I was off sick and she's now withdrawn me from the course.
The canteen food is great and they make several dishes over the week. The canteen staff are friendly and hardworking. I liked the lamb keema dish a lot.
The food was amazing I know the service has it's moments but the students are there to learn so just remember that also new term so new experience for them too. Have never had a bad meal here I have to say top restaurant quality food.
A group of us were there for a Xmas lunch (9/12/21) cooked and supplied by the catering students (but overseen by watchful staff). Generally the food was excellent as was the service by the students. A few grumbles about vegetables being luke warm and main courses not served at the same time and having to watch other guests eat. The price for the quality of food and its presentation was exceptional value. Many commercial restaurants we have been to would not score 8/10 as the marks we gave here
