Visited this shop Thursday 11 September 2025. A young assistant, Willow, was so helpful, and did her utmost to try and find me exactly what i wanted.More importantly, this was. Her last day working there before going to university. Thank you Willow, sorry you were unable to help me. You took your time, didn’t rush me, it was much appreciated. Anne Barratt

Incredibly helpful member of staff - really took her time to find the right fit for my children's school shoes.

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding an upsetting experience I had today while visiting your Clark’s Lymington branch with my two children to be fitted for school shoes. Firstly, I would like to commend Scarlett, who served us. She was absolutely fantastic – attentive to both my children, patient, and extremely understanding and supportive of my son’s additional needs. She communicated with him wonderfully and made what is usually a very stressful experience for me much more positive. Unfortunately, our visit was then overshadowed by the behaviour of the store manager, Rachel Long. While my daughter was being fitted, my son (who has diagnosed ASD and ADHD, along with severe sensory needs) began moving the small leather stools where we were sitting. Two other members of staff had previously reassured me that this was not a problem, as no other customers were nearby, and my son was calm and content. Without warning, Rachel came out abruptly from the back of the store and very sharply told my son “no, no, get off,” while moving the stools back. Her tone was abrupt and dismissive, and it was very clear from the situation – and from what had already been explained – that my son has additional needs. I fully understand the importance of health and safety policies, but in this instance, there was no risk to him or anyone else and the situation was being calmly managed. The way Rachel spoke to both my son and myself was unnecessary, rude, and extremely upsetting. It showed a complete lack of understanding of how to appropriately engage with children with additional needs, and certainly fell short of the standard of professionalism and compassion I would expect from a manager. I am making this complaint not only because of how poorly we were treated, but because I strongly believe staff in management positions – especially in a family-focused store such as Clark’s – should receive training on how to appropriately and kindly interact with SEN children and their families. No parent should feel judged or spoken down to when simply trying to buy shoes for their children. I hope this feedback will be taken seriously and addressed at the appropriate level, as today’s experience has left me reluctant to return to this store. I look forward to hearing how this matter will be handled.

Sally could not have been more helpful and patient. Excellent service and went the extra mile and polished my new trainers with the purchased conditioning balm. Thank you for your attentive service

Fantastic! I have previously had a bad experience in Clarks in Southampton so have been avoiding going back but this store have changed my opinion and I will definitely be returning. We were served by Sally, who was wonderful, patient, attentive and clearly had great knowledge to support us to find the best shoes for my son. My son has additional needs and may never walk but needs shoes for his standing frame to protect his feet on the plates. Sally listened and supported us whilst never saying that he had to be walking independently to have shoes - something we'd been told repeatedly in Clarks in Southampton despite trying to explain the situation. Sally helped us find a much more supportive shoe for my son compared to his old ones. I couldn't be happier with the service we received today and would highly recommend the store and it's wonderful staff - particularly Sally! Thank you so much!

Closed for lunch due to staff shortage. Unlocked the doors 10 minutes later than stated dudnt even open the door to waiting customers or greet them Would not measure my grandson's feet as he had no socks on refused to use the popsocks given to adults despite a customer saying her son was given them last week The young lady was rude and unhelpful I subsequently purchased 2 pairs of shoes at another shop

Awful, awful, awful - avoid….terrible customer service. My son and I visited the Lymington shop today to get feet measured for new school shoes. Fairly busy but no greeting or acknowledgment from any of the staff who all looked thoroughly miserable and unhappy. Snappy assistant just complained how busy they were and walked off when we approached for help…we subsequently left. I appreciate it’s a busy time but hardly unusual and that is their job! Clarks shoe shop was always a ‘go to’ shop for service and quality but the last couple of experiences have been far from that. We will not be visiting or recommending anymore - very disappointing

Avoid on a weekend if you want your child's feet measured correctly. I was told my 18 month olds feet are narrow which having been measured numerous times before including in this store, they have never been narrow, and it would be highly unlikely she would have any. Without looking or offering to look. Then to be told that Clarks sandals don't start until size 4 when we have a pair of Clarks sandals in a 3 which we showed her. Needless to say she didn't have much to say. In all fairness I did interrupt her story time with her colleagues How inconsiderate of me!

Been many times with my little boy and always great service but today with the pandemic going on they were just incredible, can’t thank and recommend you guys highly enough. Took every precaution but also made my 21 month old and his nervous mummy feel at easy. Thank you so much, very much appreciated and we love our new shoes!
