I have been hesitant to leave a negative review in the past, but the consistently poor customer service and increasingly rude behaviour from a staff member at the till has prompted me to write this. On 17/09 at 7:30 PM, her rudeness was clearly evident. After completing my purchase, she flapped her hand at me to indicate the transaction was over. When I asked for a receipt, she simply replied, "It's in your Lidl app," without any confirmation of payment or a polite closing. This lack of basic customer service is unacceptable, and I was not surprised to see that multiple other reviews mention the same person. It seems I am not alone in my experience, with other customers stating she is "a poor representation of your brand" and that "there’s clearly a toxic culture developing at this branch." Strongly agree. As other reviewers have said, "Train your staff better or lose your loyal customers!"

Fantastic!! Who doesn't love abit of Lidl.. great prices, good selection, massive savings on other supermarkets. The store was clean and tidy when I visited. Staff busy putting out more fresh stock, they had everything I needed and saw some new items that gave me great Meal ideas. All in all 9/10. Great work guys and gals

***Extremely Disappointed – Rude Staff and Unacceptable Handling of Apple Pay Refund*** I had a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience at the Lidl branch located at RG2 0SJ dated 27-Jul-2025 at 15.20 UK time. I was assisted (or rather, mistreated) by a staff member named Michelle, whose behavior was unacceptably rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. After making a purchase using Apple Pay, I later needed to return the item. That’s when the experience took a completely unacceptable turn. Michelle insisted that I must bring the physical card for the refund, showing no understanding whatsoever that Apple Pay generates a different device-specific card number for security reasons. This is a basic, well-known aspect of how Apple Pay works, yet I was spoken to as if I was lying or didn’t know what I was talking about. Despite me calmly explaining the situation and even referencing guidance from my bank, Michelle continued to talk down to me rudely, refused to listen, and flat-out denied my request based on completely inaccurate assumptions. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was astounding. In 2025, I expect a major retailer like Lidl to have staff properly trained on standard digital payment systems, especially something as widely used as Apple Pay. More importantly, I expect to be treated with respect and basic human decency, neither of which were offered during this encounter. Lidl, this is completely unacceptable. I strongly urge you to retrain your staff at RG2 0SJβ€”particularly Michelleβ€”on both customer service etiquette and basic payment system protocols. Until this is addressed, I will be reconsidering my loyalty to Lidl.

I’ve been a regular Lidl customer for number of years, but today I had a very upsetting experience dealing with short lady with glasses (I believe she was supervisor on 25 Jan 2025 morning) and tall big guy who scanned two items 4 times, both started with very bad tune and disrespectful manners which created the situation as no one can tolerate that. I am kind professional person and don't like to raise my voice but this incident and disrespectful manners have made me really upset today. The issue was that 2 items were scanned 4 times and multiple items were charged incorrectly which is not a big thing so I asked them kindly to sort it out but the same guy who served me sent me to this short rude lady wearing glasses who dealt with me in very offensive tune and when I responded she refused to serve me then that tall big guy came so close to me talked me in the same way as that short lady talked to me but then realised his tune so changed it back to normal, refused to serve, refund and disrespectfully said to me go and ask customer services to sort it out as we will not serve, refund and sort out wrong pricing with your shopping. Then short lady came back with the body cam and both people suddenly started acting in a nice tune due to body cam I think but still refused to serve me and disrespectfully told me to leave the store now!!!. That short lady needs to learn how to start conversation nicely with the customer so that such incidents don't happen again with anyone and never disrespcfully tell customer to leave the store when they are not causing any harm or trouble. I have never been treated like that in my whole life. I left all the items with wrong pricing on the till in good manners (as shown in the photo) without refund as respect is everything not the money, hoping customer service can refund. I am a professional person and never raise my voice but no one can tolerate disrespectful behaviour. I am still feeling upset about this disrespectful behaviour and bad tune. Lidl need to train their staff how to have nice conversations with the customers and teach them good customer service skills and right tune. They don't need to act nicely just when wearing body cam and be hypocrite, they need to be real human and talk in a kindly manners all the time. I hope this feedback helps improve things at this store. Due to this experience, I’m hesitant to return to this store now where I have always shopped regularly.

The bakery section is unmatched but unfortunately for that same reason it doesn't stay stocked up for long. Great value for money, you might not find some of your name brand favourites but there's usually a good alternative. Also for any mums looking for breast pads, you won't find any here which is a shame!

just popped in for some ready-made salad, and came away with a few more bits. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and other bakery.

Always a good shop for most goods at reasonable prices. There have been a shortage of several items in freezer and orange juice on shelf. Sign of the time. Shelves are filling up once again. Bit short on certain cereals. A problem with lidl stock and delivery I expect.

One of the scales in the shop was not doing a proper reading and the shop assistant, was kind and helpful. We had what we wanted. Overall all good. Thank you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️6 Stars Upgrade. Updated: Lidl selected wine destroys Costco double priced same old same wines. Expensive overpriced wines in Costco. Lidl selected wines wins. Lidl on Basingstoke Road. Good selection of foods and brands. Fresh baked bread racks. Middle isle with interesting stuff every week. This store also has self serve checkouts which makes it much easier to get in and out. Given my experience with products and friction (ease of access, ease of shop, bakery, butchers cabs, markdown deals, wine rack, beer selection & self serve checkout combined with phone app and deals) β€” Lidl smashes Aldi totally out of the park. Protein fitness couple bargain buy tips in the pics.
