Sorry today you failed by only offering a card only facility on your self service. One woman working between the kiosk & self service and telling people to use the check out if you wanted to use cash. The woman who was on the till was looking for something for a customer and so when I went to kiosk she told me to go and use the till. Crazy
Tesco in Basingstoke town centre is handy for quick shopping trips, but it does have its downsides. The store can get very busy at peak times, which makes it feel even more cramped than it already is. The layout is a little tight, so moving around with a basket or trolley isn’t always easy. Selection-wise, it’s quite limited compared to larger Tesco stores – you’ll find the basics, but not always much variety. It’s fine for grabbing essentials if you’re in town, but if you’re after a bigger shop or more choice, you’ll probably need to head to one of the larger branches around Basingstoke. That said, the staff are generally helpful and keep things moving as best they can, even when it’s busy. Overall, it’s convenient, but not the most comfortable or best-stocked Tesco.
Ok to buy a few things you need . But is expensive now like most supermarkets. Good variety and the bakery is nice
Was in town at 1:30pm 30/04/25. went to tesco to buy some wine for my mother, I am of age, I have ID and i was alone. Got to the till and was refused service by an older blonde woman. She was claiming that she needed to see id for my ‘friend’ and pointed at somebody id literally never ever seen or spoke to before in my entire life, but took advantage of her role to refuse my service purely because we happened to be stood a few feet away from eachother in the queue, my so called friend then left and i told her look hes literally just walked out hes not waiting outside chrck the cctv i havent dpoken to him i didnt come in with him, i have all the necessary identification, however she was just rude and impolite didn’t even wanna hear what I had to say. Great staff training guys!
I was in the self checkout counter today when I finished scanning my items from the basket , I kept the basket down the counter, one of the staff there just came and placed that basket again back on the counter and was behaved very rudely to me . Being from an Indian ethnicity it’s really sad that people are behaving very badly not once but many times this has happened .
Tesco Express in Basingstoke. Good selection of foods and drinks. Ideal for a quick shop, lunch bits or some fruit or chocolate. Plenty of self service tills.
In the light of covid19 I would expect the staff to be leading by example in upholding the 2m rule. The older dark haired staff member at the self checkout went right up and talked to my face way below the distance when the machine prompted for staff to help. I'm going to have to rule out this store until rules have been lifted.
I was helped out by Cheryl. She spotted me buying a succulent and then managed to get the price down for me! Well spotted, Thankyou for your help Cheryl! Other than that it’s a lovely store with staff there to help. Great selection and always greeted with smiling faces.
Sorry for the delay of this review (just saw their names I got written down on the shops printing material while I was clearing the table). The chocolate ladies Eisha and Odessa from Easter weekend were super, super, super lovely to me - thank you for giving out those chocolate freebies to everyone - I really appreciate it! I also got consistently great experience with Trent and his colleagues (sorry for my bad memory not remembering anyone else's name). I appreciated your time. Thank you guys! Raza =)
