1. Robinsons Estate Agents ★☆☆☆☆

   JESSICA THEARA has been mostly uncontactable, slow to communicate, and when updates do arrive, they lack detail and urgency. Sale was agreed on 30th July 2025 to a cash buyer with no chain, yet over 16 weeks later (26th November) enquiries are still being raised. Completely unacceptable level of service. EDIT (01.12.25 following response from owner): While you state that you protect your clients’ interests, taking over 16 weeks to complete a straightforward cash, no-chain purchase feels excessive. For comparison, we successfully completed two property transactions in November, both involving mortgages and chains, within less than 10 working days. That, in our view, represents a satisfactory outcome for all parties involved.

   One of the worst solicitor firms I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They were representing the buyer of my flat and originally gave us the email address of the wrong person who would be dealing with the case - my solicitor regularly tried to chase them over a 6 week period but obviously got no where. They eventually managed to find the right person after the estate agent intervened and things started moving but when the buyer pulled out at the 8 week mark they apparently didn't get the instruction, and only confused the situation further. 2 months lost as well as the home I was hoping to move into, all because they seemingly don't know how to work email. Avoid at all costs. Edit 7/11: I can see they have replied to my review. Their claim that the initial contract was not provided until mid-October is factually incorrect. My solicitor, who I've worked with many times before, sent the initial contract on the 20th September. Due to the incompetence of this firm they'd actually given us the contact email for the wrong solicitor on their books, and for some reason that solictor decided to ignore all emails related to the case. It was only when the estate agent stepped in that Machins pulled their finger out 5 weeks later. I notice their reply also fails to mention the fact that they continued to chase my solicitor for a response after their client had informed them that they wished to pull out of the deal, adding more confusion into the mix.    Machins have represented my interests on a number of matters over the years but dealing with them bears comparison to opening a box of chocolates. Caroline Jeavons was superb in all respects, responding pleasantly, promptly and professionally at every stage with my conveyancing needs. But sadly there are other chocolates in the Machins box which you will only pick once and may end up wondering how they ever got into the box!

Gill and her colleagues handled everything diligently and professionally, explaining the process and ensuring all the paperwork was completed and ready.
