Terrible shop. They don’t have that many drinks (unlike other corner shops, they don’t have any drinks that you can’t get in other shops, they don’t even have any Dr Pepper flavours). You have to pay cash just to pay by card.

Owner behind the till (old guy) always shouting at someone when I go into the shop. Today he was shouting at a delivery driver and a customer. Very rude, very aggressive and screams at people in the shop (poor customer was visibly shaken up). Reported to police. Avoid shop at all costs. I'm glad this happened in front of me as I deal with cases like these on a regular basis. I've reported this shop on Resolver, to police and Trading Standards. They're now under investigation. I'm taking it to Ombudsman and making sure this store is dealt with accordingly. He has really messed with the wrong person today. We all cross the wrong person one day or another.

In over 60 years of shopping around the Portswood area this is the only rude and thoroughly objectionable shopkeeper I've ever encountered. I went to pick up an Evri parcel and, when asked for a name and giving my own, I received a harangue about how I should have realised he meant the originator of the parcel. When I suggested he could have been clearer about which name he required, the condescending and increasingly irritable lecture continued. Had to chuckle to myself when he realised that he actually did need my name but had now (after his prolonged rant) forgotten what I'd already told him. Looking back over past reviews I see I am not alone in having suffered the rude and hostile attitude of this man and that he sometimes responds here (in a semi-literate fashion) to his "stupid" and "brainless" (as he calls them) customers. I would suggest that before he responds to me he should reflect on just why so many of his customers have a problem with him and why his shop has such a poor rating - could it perhaps, just perhaps, have something to do with him? My sympathies are with his helpful and polite colleague whom others have rightly praised.

I have come here for over a year with no issues. There is a wide range of reasonably priced products, and the shop is open for longer hours than most other places on Portswood. I have had nothing but polite and kind customer service from people behind the till.

To be fair- I have not had any issues with other staff members or previously when I would be coming in and scanning a QR code for Evri. When the system works, they leave you alone and the younger members of staff seem polite. However I went in there to send off a Evri parcel. As I didn’t have a QR code I had to figure out downloading the app which kept crashing. So then had to figure out the website. Previously you didn’t need a QR code, as you could type in the information and pay on the machine. The owner kept asking if I had a QR code to which I kept responding no but was trying to get one through the website and the app was broken. After about 10-15 mins of me in the corner of his shop, trying to figure out the website and payment. There was only 1 other customer which he had started serving- he then proceeded to tell me to go sit outside on the bench to do it or do it at home. It was cold outside. Whether he felt I was a taking up room for the one other customer in the shop or wasting his time, where he was eating and watching tv and knew I wasn’t buying anything due to the parcel drop off. Maybe he thought I was playing on my phone, where I was getting stressed with trying to rush through the process with him in the background telling me to go outside. I have never felt so unwelcome in a shop (even for a parcel drop off) and won’t be going there again.

Seen lots of negative reviews on here but personally I've never had an issue. Been in a few times to either purchase something small or collect packages - the person behind the counter spent a fair bit of time verifying my parcel/ I am who I say I am, but personally I think this is a good thing so not anyone can walk in and falsely obtain my delivery. Happy with the service.

Very rude, obnoxious and patronising staff. Won't be having any business from me. Avoid, especially if you are trying to do anything regarding posting parcels.

Violent Indian man. The old Indian grumpy man that’s in the till is very violent especially towards women. Had many times seen h harassed lady parcel deliverer and lady customers. He is rude. Police complaints have been made. Soon will visit his store to have a nice chat with him and see if he behaves to men the same way. There is this girl as well I believe it’s his niece she is the same as him. Ignore the store as the customers are normally druggies. If police do nothing the community will.

Avoid at all costs. Extremely rude and violent customer service. Went there to return an Amazon parcel. The man that was staying at the till became very abusive when I told him I was there to return a parcel. Started shouting at me for no reason, told me to “Not come to his store with that”. I said that I’ve got an email with a QR code to return the package through Hermes-no box or printer required and he asked me “Where does it say that?”. So I’ve got into my emails to show him, while he was continually shouting at me: “TELL ME. TELL ME WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT?? TELL ME”. Anyway, I told him that there’s no need to be rude and he could’ve told me that the store doesn’t offer this service. Left without returning the parcel and traumatised.

There seem to be a lot of bad reviews here talking about rudeness but I use this shop fairly regularly and have never had any issues. It's a normal corner shop yaknow you go in get your bits pay and you're on your way. The thing that makes it stand out is that it is open earlier and later than the other local shops.
