Great visit to the Living Rainforest near Newbury (not that far from Reading either). Loved all the wild animals just wondering around. Special favourite was all the colourful birds that just appear and disappear in the undergrowth. Obviously no dogs allowed. Highly recommend
Haven't been here for a very long time. It is a very small place but enough for a hour. Impressive plants here and a few animals. Didn't see any of the free roaming birds today but did see the sloth although not fully. Recommend especially with kids.
We visited again today after a long time (I used to bring the kids when they were young and my middle son wanted to return years later being an animal lover!). It's always an interesting visit here and so much to see. You have to keep an eye out for the birds around your feet or amongst the trees on the floor and all around (some funny sounds they make!) The little frogs that are chirping are just so cute but you need to look out for them! The sloth was sleeping in the heights quite happily, we could just see where he was. The tortoises were entertaining as they chased each other. Always enjoy a visit here as different every time. Kids love it, with the interactive educational section and small gift shop also. A definite visit if you want something different!
Great place. Not too crowded. Well managed. Advance tickets on website. Come with ample time. Each exhibit warrants a halt. Birds on forest floor and sloth wandering about in the open make it an interesting experience. Decent gift shop and cafe. Interesting for all ages.
Entry on a Sunday in autumn half term was quick. Not too many people there. Had a lovely time. Staff were super friendly and helpful, finding the water dragon (free roaming) and pointing him out to us. Small cafe and gift shop. Spent an hour and a half there, which is maxed out. Had a good time with my nephew's.
We started our annual membership today and visited for the first time! Absolutely stunning day out. There's such a brilliant variety of wildlife, from iguanas and mudskippers to marmosets and a sloth! We didn't see much of Cinnamon today, but she was napping in the canopy of a tree just out of full view (see pictures). The staff here are very friendly and always happy to answer any questions on the animals. Had a lovely conversation with one staff member about sloths and she was so lovely and seemed truly passionate. I was worried that The Living Rainforest would be disappointing because of how small and affordable it is, but I couldn't have been more wrong! We spent the best part of 4 hours there making sure we explored every corner of the three houses. I'm so excited to return to see how the animals behave over the seasons and hopefully see more of Cinnamon. It's well worth your time! It's more targeted at families, but me and my boyfriend had a lovely day out and will surely have more down the line! It's a new favourite and well worth the hour long drive to get there!
Really, really beautiful. I'm from Florida originally so seeing all of the beautiful tropical plants was incredible. The animals were beautiful as well, and well cared for. I can't speak for the cafe or the gift shop (which were both small), but the children's playground was lovely as well. Would absolutely recommend for both adults (as me and my partner are) and children/families. It is also relatively wheelchair accessible. It is very warm and humid inside (for obvious reasons), but not terrible. You MUST buy tickets in advance, they DO NOT let you pay at the door.
Lovely place to take kids. Wish there was a little more information on the plants whilst looking around, but the lady in the gift shop was very nice and helpful. Takes about an hour to wander around. It's very warm in there as it has to be humid. A big black bird walks around, and is gorgeous! A must see, and should be supported.
Fantastic place for young children to see a living forest. Plenty to amuse them with animals,birds and fish to look at close up. It takes around 1 hour to go around but do remember, it’s for youngsters
