The service has never been good, and over the past year it has deteriorated even further. I identified my son’s medical condition myself, with the help of ChatGPT, and as a result my son completed three courses of antibiotics (!!). Prior to that, they were unable to make any diagnosis for five months. ChatGPT has now identified that my son has an allergy (diathesis) and recommended antihistamines, this was prescribed. Their role appears to be limited to confirming diagnoses made by ChatGPT. They are unable to issue referrals for tests correctly. I requested allergy testing. We have been waiting for a month. My son is covered in bruises caused by constant scratching due to the allergy — and only then did it become clear that the referral was not for allergy testing, nor even for an allergist, but merely for a general hospital appointment. Additionally, we were never informed about mandatory pre-school vaccinations. I discovered this only by chance, despite my son being registered with this service for three years of his 3.5 years of life. No explanation or apology was ever offered. Finally, after posting a negative comment on their Instagram page regarding these issues, they disabled comments, effectively blocking any patient feedback or discussion.

Dr Bradbury was brilliant. He listened patiently and offered good advice. He presented me with some options I had not considered. It was a really good consultation. He is also personable without being pushy.Thank you, Sylvia Knight.

I had the pleasure of spending a couple of weeks at this practice as a medical student, and it was an outstanding experience. The doctors are not only exceptionally skilled in their clinical approach, but also genuinely warm and kind. I had the opportunity to work with the paramedic, pharmacist, and physiotherapist, all of whom are also brilliant and showed strong commitment to person-centred care. The administrative team is incredibly organised, and every member of staff contributes to an atmosphere that is very welcoming for patients. It’s evident that patient care is truly at the heart of this practice.

I phoned the surgery recently on. Monday morning about 8.15am. I had a serious medical concern and asked for a face to face appointment with Dr. Sherliker. The receptionist was courteous and asked relevant questions. Dr. Sherliker was doing telephone consultations and I was offered a face to face appointment with another doctor or else I could be added to Dr. Sherliker’s list. This was my preferred option as it is easier to talk to someone one knows. Dr. Sherliker contacted me within half an hour. He listened carefully, reassured me and suggested a course of action which included a face to face consultation with a colleague that afternoon. This doctor recognised that further investigation was required and promptly referred me to the hospital with an appointment promised within two weeks. In fact I had an appointment a week later. To cut a long story short this swift action by Friarsgate surgery staff and then by the staff at The Royal Hampshire County hospital meant that I was operated on only four weeks and one day after my initial phone call. I understand that the surgery has around 25,000 patients but in my hour of need I was treated as though I were the only one. Thank you to everyone at Friarsgate surgery for this outstanding service. Whilst writing this review I would also like to comment on the cleanliness of the surgery and on the caring professionalism of all who work there. The speed with which repeat prescriptions are authorised is also to be commended and the fact that progress of a prescription can be tracked on the NHS app. Finally, national vaccination programmes are communicated well to patients and the staff, and volunteers, involved in the administration of these provide a caring and supportive service. If, like me, you are one of the 25,000 be exceedingly thankful that we have such an outstanding, caring, professional service at the Friarsgate surgery.

Always been quick to get an appointment here. The doctors and nurses have been excellent. Some of the reception team could do with some more smiles and humour...but I guess they have been broken down over time by the miserable public.

AWFUL - The management and organisation is appalling and as for Care Navigation, what a joke. The only care they seem to navigate is avoiding booking you an appointment within a month. I guess they take the attitude that in 3 weeks you will either be well again or dead.! Forget trying to see a doctor face to face, the computer says NO.

The receptionists are fine. After that it's all over.If you make contact by phone you have to be prepared for a big phone bill.If you go in to the practice and leave a message no one gets back to you.

I really can’t fault this practice. Considering the pressure GP services are under this practice goes above and beyond. I have felt very supported by them - right from the reception/care navigation, nursing to drs. Efficient and communicate well. Would highly recommend.

Very poor management of patients in need. Even if you are in excruciating pain affecting work sleep and daily activities they will just leave you for several weeks to have a TELEPHONE appt prior to booking another several weeks after that for to actually treat. NB, if you book your telephone appt they won’t call on time, then you will back to waiting weeks.
