DO NOT USE THIS CAB SERVICE!!!! Booked the cab from the centre of Derby to Burton on Trent. Driver found out that I was paying cash and said it would be Β£40-Β£50. Iβve been questioned this and heβs gone look look at the time and ask if you go down the A38 it was gonna take 51 minutes. Now as a cab driver, you should know your way around to get places quickly and you shouldnβt be overcharging Iβm trying to con your customers to pay double what should actually cost.

An utterly disgraceful and extremely unprofessional service from Western in what will definitely be my last ever experience with the company. I would give it zero stars if possible. I had to urgently dash back from abroad for a family medical emergency and, as a Derbeian who had used Western regularly when I lived in the city, automatically called the organisation to book a taxi from Manchester Airport direct to Royal Derby Hospital. I needed to get back as quickly as possible and a taxi seemed like the fastest and most direct option, as opposed to catching and changing trains or spending time on arrival sorting out a rental car, etc. I called from my departure airport, explained the urgency of the situation, and politely emphasised to two different call handlers that it was imperative that the taxi was waiting for me on arrival in Manchester. They assured me it would be. However, when I emerged from the terminal on time, the taxi was nowhere to be seen and the info showed that they were still some distance away. Despite several calls to them, the taxi finally turned up around 40 minutes late, and I had to walk to a car park (adding more time) because the driver failed to pull up in front of the terminal in the usual taxi bays. Furthermore, although he apologised for being late, I had to urge him on several occasions to increase his spèed (obviously safely and within the legal limits) as he was driving too slowly, in my opinion, on the journey to Derby. I also had to ask him to take an alternative route, as the one he said he'd used to travel to the airport was slower in my experience. He told me that he had been held up in traffic, which was surprising given how freely it was flowing on the route I chose on the way back. I can't imagine it would have been too heavy on the other route either, even though it is more convoluted. There were certainly no delays indicated that I could see. I told him that it wasn't an acceptable excuse and that he should have chosen his route more carefully and set off earlier, especially knowing the urgency of the situation. Understandably, I complained to the duty manager while I was waiting for the taxi at Manchester Airport and he apologised and said he would speak to the owner, possibly regarding some type of discount or refund. Unsurprisingly, based on how they handled the overall situation, I never heard anything back from him, his boss, or any member of the Western staff; not even a compassionate follow-up enquiry regarding the reason for which I was travelling back. In the wider scheme of things, and without going into personal details, subsequent events related to the reason for my urgent journey were extremely sad indeed and have had a significant impact on me and my family. For that reason, and although this happened several months ago, writing this review has hardly been a priority, for the reasons I have mentioned. However, it is something I have now felt the need to share, so that other people are aware of the terrible customer service experience I had with the company. When I lived in Derby, I frequently used Western Taxis. Based on the dreadful, shambolic experience I have mentioned, however, I would always choose an alternative company in the future (and have already done so). Western will never get another penny's worth of custom from me, and I know those close to me, and other people who were appalled by my experience, feel the same. Additional info: I have since discovered from a couple of other well-known taxi companies in the city that the price Western charged me was well in excess of what they themselves would have quoted. As I was focused on returning urgently, it was obviously the medical emergency which was on my mind (I didn't even think about the money aspect), and as I was a regular Western customer in the past, I didn't call other firms to get any different quotes. Therefore, not only was the service a disgrace, the price the firm charged was apparently comparatively higher as well.

Don't use this company, They're the biggest load of shambles ever. I booked a taxi for an older gentleman that had his phone stolen. The gentleman walked past me while I was at work after just arriving back from the Philippines, I explained to the taxi company that this man was outside in the cold with no phone waiting for this taxi and they decided to just cancel the booking even while knowing this man had no way of knowing what was going on all because they didn't ask for the drop off point. After explaining the situation and even offering to out my card on the system incase of any fees they shown how inhumane they really are and weren't even sorry about cancelling they just said why would our drivers want to risk this. I hope this business will go bankrupt because they don't deserve the customers and income with their despicable actions.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Pre-booked a taxi to take us to the bus station to get a coach down to London. Taxi was confirmed. They never turned up. Tried to call, the awful automated system told me they were looking for a driver. Tried to cancel, automated system wouldn't allow it, it tried to transfer me to a real person, no one would answer the phone. Use Albatross instead!

Excellent taxi service from Derby railway station. Arrived within minutes and details of my previous journey stored on the system so the driver knew where I eas going. Very friendly driver who made the journey interesting as we chatted all the way to my home.

I ordered a taxi and 6 pm for midnight. Had everything confirmed. At midnight called to see where my taxi was as it was late. Got told it was 15 minutes away. Got a call back at 0030 saying there are no drivers and they cancelled the taxi. Left me stranded with no means of getting home. Terrible service with a huge lack of respect. Do not use this taxi company
