   Our son has severe autism and severe learning disability and he is non verbal. Having Dr Afzal on board has helped us tremendously in our journey of caring and advocating for all aspects of our sons life at least where his gastro problems are concerned. Today as our son is now 18 years it was our last appointment with Dr Afzal and a very sad farewell to a great doctor who actually cares for his patients and listens. For a special needs parent that means a lot. Thank you Dr afzal for your support

   Dr Afzal was incredible at making us feel like our voices were heard. After being told countless of times by professionals there was nothing they could do beside continuously give her large amounts of medication without looking into any type of tests - an X-Ray was the first thing Dr Afzal suggested after I'd been begging previous consultants for it and it was proven after this, this was infact necessary for my 5 year old. He massively helped us after a painful 4 1/2 years of issues and helped lead us onto a path that has finally helped us see light! ✨

   Dr.Afzal and his team have been nothing short of exemplary in the way that they have provided their care for Lucy. Keeping me really well informed of all diagnosis and prognosis along the way through Lucy’s treatment plans. He has taken the time to ensure that both Lucy and I have understood the changes in her treatment and why they have taken place. Of special note has been his support for Lucy in transition from paediatrics through to Adult care ensuring that she is comfortable with the process. If you are fortunate enough to find yourself or your child under his care, you should count yourself has being very Lucky. Thank you Dr.Afzal and your team you have been amazing.

   Having had two consultations with Dr Afzal, it is clear that he is a dedicated healthcare professional, committed to improving the health and wellbeing of his young patients. His kind and amiable manner put my teenage son at ease, and his desire to leave no stone unturned as part of his investigations left our family in no doubt that we were in excellent professional hands. After almost a year of uncertainty and a lack of proper diagnosis, we are very grateful to Dr Afzal for finally providing us with the answers we were seeking.    Grace had been poorly for several months with no diagnosis being made despite numerous blood tests and investigations. Following a stool sample to test for Crohn’s disease we were referred to Dr Afzal at the Southampton's Children's Hospital. On my first telephone consultation with him I instantly felt reassured that he was the best person to be reviewing Grace and providing treatment if necessary. His immediate advice made a huge difference to her level of comfort and following investigations in hospital we finally have a diagnosis and a management plan which is already having a positive impact on Grace, her physical and mental health. Throughout our relationship with Dr Afzal he has been clear, factual and has always made Grace feel secure that he is providing the best care available, with ongoing monitoring and review we hope that he will see Grace back at 100% and appreciate what he has done to help my daughter be well again.

   Dr Afzal was so lovely with my 5 year old daughter. He put her at ease immediately and straight away knew the issue from my quick rundown of her symptoms. He put her on a suitable course of treatment and gave us links to useful information. He also gave us his email address for any queries between appointments which was really handy. Definitely recommend for getting children into good toileting habits.

   We are so lucky to have met Dr Afzal. He was determined to make our son better and he did! It was a rocky road but the confidence we all had in Dr Afzal reassured us that we would get there. He always goes beyond the call of duty and he is totally focused on resolutions for each of his patients. You never ever feel that this is just a job for Dr Afzal - it is his mission to conquer IBD and ensure his patients live full lives. His encouragement, passion and cricket chat have inspired my son and we as a family will be eternally grateful that our paths crossed with Dr Afzal.
