Iβve visited this pub several times now and once again it didnβt disappoint. Delicious gluten-free fish in a perfectly crispy batter, plus a choice of several other gluten-free dishes β such a treat! I highly recommend this place: great atmosphere, lovely staff and, most importantly, a kitchen thatβs really coeliac-friendly and kind to our tummies.

When my husband and I got engaged I knew there was only one place where I wanted the reception.. The Fishpond. We were introduced to Liley our wedding planner who really was the brains behind the operation of the wedding day. Liley is so lovely and also helped us make sure our day would flow nicely and make sure we had the best day ever! Which we did! Like everything in life some things donβt go to plan, like the storm that happened during our wedding day so we werenβt able to do some of the things we wanted to, eg. Confetti toss. However this did not ruin our day and we were so grateful we booked the ballroom and the raft so our guests had enough room while we waited for the rain to pass. We chose the hog roast for our wedding breakfast which was honestly one of our best decisions, it was delicious! Our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food and how it suited us as a couple. In the evening we had the traditional buffet which we also enjoyed! Iβd like to thank all the staff at the fishpond that helped make our day run smoothly and made our day extra special! The fishpond is a gorgeous pub with an equally impressive ballroom. Iβm so happy we had our reception here and would recommend to any couple looking for a wedding reception!

Nice pub with a cosy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful on allergies. I got the marinara pizza, which is technically incorrectly named because marinara doesn't have cheese on, but honestly that doesn't matter because it was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, I took a picture underneath a slice just to show it off. It had so much flavour: the parmesan, the tomato, and oregano and garlic. I couldn't stop eating it. I had a side salad with it too which worked well with it. I also had a rum and coke which was a really good price. I'd like more rum options; that's the only negative I have. If I'm in Matlock Bath again I'll definitely come back

Great food at this pub and relaxed service just sit down like a normal pub and go order at bar. Monday to wednesday they have two pizzas for Β£20 in the evening and they are really fantastic pizzas good crisp base very good sauce also very good pepperoni. Crispy chilli beef was great with huge helping of beef and the satay curry was super! With lots of fresh veg and even had bonito flakes on the rice. Also, puddings were generous portions, really nice but we could have shared one. Could have come here for the whole holiday with how much variety they have on the menu.

Unfortunately the food wasn't edible at all I ordered the 10oz steak I asked for it well done but it was burnt and I couldn't get my steak knife through it. My wife ordered fish and chips when I went to the bar to complain about the steak the very pleasant member of staff asked what she could do ie a refund I was hungry and was told it would take a while for another steak. In the end I ordered fish and chips which was vile hardly any fish and all batter,my wife didn't eat all her fish as she said it wasn't nice. Then when I had to ask for the difference in price for the fish and chips and the steak which I feel should have been handled by a member of staff not myself. The staff were young and doing a great job under a very busy pub however I feel as though the place was very understaffed which may have been the reason for this poor visit. As a first time visitor i feel that you must improve your food and get more staff to cope.

Had the Sunday Carvery, it was delicious, very friendly and efficient service. Was second time back and brought the in laws with us this time who loved it just as much. Food was so tasty and fresh, lots of choice. Will definitely recommend and also be back again soon!

Stunning food. Reasonable prices. Went as a party of 9, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The beef brisket on the pizza was amazing. Camembert was a hit, as well as the josh burger, sticky fries, Korean chicken burger, various pizzas and halloumi fries. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be back!

Service for food was rather slow, even though we ate at 4pm Grilled halloumi - Great. Generous portion. The grilled zucchini was lovely. Korean fried chicken - Great. Decent portion, crispy breading, not too dry (but could be juicier). Sourdough and hummus - Great. More flatbread that what you'd think of as sourdough. Nice portion for sharing as an appetizer. Hot chocolate and mocha - Great. Easy to drink

It's like a weather spoons but not cheap. Positive... Got a table no problem on a Saturday evening. Once ordered, the wait for food wasn't long. Nice selection of dead man's fingers rum and Lilley's cider. Friendly bar maid. Big portion sizes. Negative.... The queue to order at the bar was incredibly slow. When I finally got to the bar, the bar girl was very slow and unorganized when it came to getting the drinks and processing the order, but at least she was very nice and friendly. It has a cheap weatherspoons vibe but the prices are not cheap. It's actually slightly overpriced in my opinion. The oil was an issue, the chips were very greasy, and the kids chicken dippers, although huge portion, they were just dripping in grease and left a pool of oil on the plate. We liked the taste of the food, the burger and chips was nice, but way too greasy to say it was great.
