I had the pleasure of dealing with this company recently after the obvious gold selling craze, I shopped around to get the best price and A.W.Porter were by far the best price. I was pleased with the outcome because I only then found out they are a family run business and have been going since 1844, I was glad to give them my business. The staff and family members were all pleasant and easy to deal with, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a good local jeweller. I then thought I would get a quote for getting a ring resized, it seemed a silly time to pay for more gold but again their quote was better than one I had received last year before gold prices went mad. Again an easy and seem less transaction, thanks everyone for your assistance.
Just bought a second hand watch from them through online forum. Excellent watch of course but very good communication and postage etc. Would highly recommend a remote purchase from them.

AW. Porter&Son is a good ol' fashioned Family jewellers. I took my Great Uncle's clock to be repaired- free estimate ( overstated in the event), full explanation of work required. Quickly served, despite other customers on a Saturday afternoon (clocks separate department). Few month's wait, including a few weeks for testing- reassuring ! It's chiming as I type. I've taken my Grandmother's too. The jewellery looked classy ( not Ratner's here!) and the staff seemed knowledgeable ( man posting). I parked right outside. Just check the opening hours before you go.

I have always used Porters to purchase special gifts for friends and family from. The jewellery is beautiful, well presented and the staff are very knowledgeable. So when I had been left some rings it was a no brainer to go down to Porters and ask them their opinion and advice about them. Rex was very helpful and inspected them for me identifying the metal and stones. I highly recommend A.W. Porter & Son who I entrusted to reset my Diamond and complete a valuation for Insurances purposes. From the first meeting to discuss my requirements to the big reveal I received regular updates and open communication to ensure my expectations were met.
