I would thoroughly recommend Dr Yanik to anyone considering therapy. My sessions with Selma certainly helped me address past-trauma and find better coping strategies to deal with chaotic and hostile situations.

I would thoroughly recommend Selma to anyone considering therapy, particularly if they are unsure about the process. Selma is kind and patient and puts you at ease. She approaches complex situations with understanding and experience, and without judgement. Her warm and welcoming nature helped to make the sessions much less daunting than I had previously feared!

Selma has helped my son over-come a traumatic incident which was having a big impact on him personally and our whole family. Her input has had a hugely positive impact and I believe my son feels much safer and heard. I can't imagine the last few months without her. I would definitely recommend her and already have to many of my friends!

Selma has had an amazing impact on our family, able to get to the root of everything in a gentle inquisitive, empathetic manner. She is a top class psychologist. Having Loki there as a therapy dog is awesome for the kids connection.

My son and daughter to a certain extent both struggled coming out of lock down. So much so my son didn't attend school for a whole school year (S3) during that year Selma was recommended to us. He started to attend session in the October. What was said at the sessions? I have no idea, but by the end of his therapy my son returned to school. He's in a much better place and has recently sat his prelims. We thought he wouldn't attend school again, never mind sit his prelims. We would absolutely recommend Selma to anyone struggling with kids that are struggling with their mental health. From day 1 we felt comfortable with Selma and Loki! Her attitude and ability to identify where the issues lay were excellent. We have so much to thank her for.

This was my first time attending any therapy. I immediately felt like I was in a safe space with Selma and felt like I could be vulnerable next to her without judgement. I felt like Selma was focused on my needs during our session and remained compassionate throughout telling me what I needed to hear. She recommended EMDR therapy which we have done together and I was completely shocked with its effects. I always thought of therapy as a talking session but she showed me how talking is not always the best way to heal. I was on a memory train experience with EMDR and Selma guided me through the experience to think more positively and to be more self loving to myself. I left the session, granted in some tears, but I generally felt relief as if some weight came off my shoulder just after one session. It was the first time in a while that I actually felt happy within myself and it lasted throughout the day and carried on until the next day. I was pleased that Selma never had the approach of "do 3 exercises a week and eat 5 fruits/veg a day". The only homework I have got from her is to identify any triggers and try to acknowledge them but not react to them but if I do react to note them down so that we can focus on it in our next session. I would definitely recommend Selma and I will be visiting her again. Although she does have a very busy schedule because she is that good.

Selma has literally changed my whole life. I had EMDR sessions with her over the course of 7 months and it helped me to process and heal from complex post traumatic stress. This was primarily in the area of childhood abuse and neglect. I found myself in a place where as an adult I was constantly being triggered and pulled back remembering all the pain and sadness, rejection and anger. As a child I had not being able to process these events but through Selmas amazing knowledge and EMDR techniques I have finally come out the other end. I have had one trigger in the last year compared to constantly going from one trigger to another previously. I would highly recommend her and her groundbreaking work.

Selma and Loki immediately put my daughter at ease and built a trusting relationship. My daughter looked forward to her sessions where Selma took a flexible approach, responding to her needs on that particular day. My daughters confidence and understanding of herself grew significantly. We are both very grateful for the support she provided.

After years of different therapies I saw Selma for only 5 months and now feel I've processed and resolved the experiences and issues that were holding me back. Selma is warm, approachable, non-judgemental, and directive enough that you continue to make progress. Unlike in other settings I wasn't just talking about the same problems repeatedly, instead we were finding new and creative ways to manage them. Thank you Selma for everything! It has made such a positive difference to my life

In the past my daughter had done very well at school and in exams. However, she had been struggling for a year or so, predominately with schoolwork but also in other areas of her life. I am so thankful that a friend recommended Selma. After a number of sessions Selma diagnosed our daughter with ADHD. It was not something we had considered but once Selma recognised it, it all made sense. Selma’s diagnosis was confirmed by a psychiatrist and our daughter now takes medication. The positive impact this has had on her life is hard to quantify. Our daughter is once again enjoying school and succeeding in assessments. She is able to work to the best of her ability and has the opportunity to fulfil her true potential. Thank you so much Selma!
