Best fish and chips in town. Small specials are fantastic value. And they offer free home made tartar sauce with your meal which is delicious
Fantastic food today. Lovely chips with a pattie that was delicious. Then to be able to eat it in shop with a plate & a knife and fork was superb
Sadly, not a patch on what it used to be. A few years back when I lived local, I would pick up two large cod and chips when visiting mum on a Friday. She’s been eating this dish for 70 years, and worked in the business herself. She and myself used to thoroughly enjoy the funky fish. Very tasty, huge golden battered cod and a respectable portion of chips. Two years on forwarding on to now, or more so the last few week’s, and I just happened to be passing at the right time and was game for that classic British dish. The first time I ordered a fish special, as I wasn’t too hungry. I know it’s a special, but the fish was tiny! I would say counting the batter of course, it was no longer than my hand (and I have regular sized male hands). The chips were, well, chips. Nothing to write home about. A few weeks later I thought I would give them another shot, as I was in the area again. I went for a large cod and chips, which was almost £10. Which I don’t mind paying if it’s quality food you’re getting. Again, the chips were chips. Perfectly adequate portion and cooked fine. Though whilst the fish had a nice even, golden crispy thin batter, the fish didn’t really taste of anything notable. I have had great tasting fish from many places in my time (cave street fisheries when it was open), but on this occasion it wasn’t to be. I wonder what’s changed? Well the price has that’s for sure. But everything’s gone up! However, I stand by that in Hull you should be able to get a tasty portion of fish and chips for under £10. The establishment is clean, I’m never waiting that long for my order, and the staff are pleasant. But I would rather wait and have a grump serve me an awesome portion of cod and chips (or haddock), rather than the alternative mentioned. Sadly I won’t be returning, but it was good whilst it lasted, and wish them a return to form! Cheers!
So got 2 fish..1 was that sml might as well had a fish fimger..the other which was a xlge wasnt much bigger..the chip potiom was pitiful the photo is of xlge fish...never again the photo of the 2nd fish is a rugler fish from kingfisher of endyke
I always use funky fish. Fish is chunky and white and batter is cooked perfectly and I love the fact its skinless fish . Chips lovely too,not real greasy like other shops .definitely my favourite chip shop
Really good and friendly staff. Get plenty on the fish. Gravy is lush , peas and chips are good too. Highly recommended

Brought my daughter here to try her first ever pattie. The staff were lovely the food was delicious and my daughter asks to go there at least twice a week. Quality chippy!
I feel this chip shop has gone downhill in the last few months. I had ordered, fish and chips x2, one jumbo sausage and chips plus, peas. Got home, no jumbo sausage, small sausage. The chips were like hard sweets, awful chips. It looks like the chips where reheated from lunch time. I don’t think I go back again, not value for money.
The fish and chips are great, the staff friendliness is great but they didn't rechecked the items what custumer paid for before handed to customers. Need to have a better system.
