I’m a student at Shinka, and I learn so much on every session. Dave sensei is very patient and extremely knowledgeable. Before training at Shinka, I hadn’t practiced martial arts since I was a child and was nervous about trying Ju Jitsu. When I first visited, Dave’s warm welcome and the friendly atmosphere among training partners immediately put me at ease. I would recommend this dojo to anybody who is looking to build their confidence and those who are interested in learning a new skill set. Shinka Ju Jitsu is also a great environment for families.
Shinka Jujitsu Academy is the perfect place to learn how to defend yourself, grow in confidence, and to improve your physical and mental fitness. Fed up of being intimidated by uncomfortable encounters around the city, I wanted to learn some self-defence and so decided to try Shinka Jujitsu Academy. From the first session, I was immediately made to feel welcome. Instead of walking into the macho, intimidating environment I was worried about (especially as a woman with spaghetti arms!), I was surprised to find a supportive community made up of students of all ages and genders. Dave, or Sensei Dave, uses his decades of jujitsu experience to help students learn and achieve their personal goals- whether it be to compete, gain belts, master self-defence or simply improve their fitness and confidence. Shinka's instructor offers a great blend of discipline, practical training, and patience all packaged with a hint of terrible dad jokes! Thanks to Shinka Jujitsu Academy for helping me gain confidence, as well as improve my asthma and overall fitness! Sensei Dave is an absolutely fantastic teacher and has such a fantastic way of working with the kids. Oliver has been coming on and off during the last year or so and thoroughly enjoys himself. Oliver was apprehensive about coming at first but Dave always manages to put his mind at ease instantly and gets him involved in the class. Oliver cannot wait for his class each week and is very excited to learn more with the hope he'll eventually get to work towards his belts.
My 5 years old son has trained in this dojo for 6 months now. I can't recommend enough Sensei Dave. He is a very experienced martial arts teacher.
I have been training at Shinka Ju-Jitsu for just over 12 months now and can honestly say it was a great decision. Dave is an excellent teacher who has many years training and the knowledge to help me and others improve. All the students at the club are friendly and approachable, making the session fun and engaging. Keep up the good work Dave!!!
Great Ju-Jitsu academy. Sensei Dave is always helpful and friendly, and makes the training for the children fun whilst learning new skills. A great place to start learning martial arts. Covid measures all in place, so you feel safe. Would recommend!
Three of us in the family come here and we absolutely love it. Will be bringing my niece when she's 4 to try and tame her! Sensei Dave is professional and patient. You can work at your own pace and set your own goals which he will support and guide you with. The Dojo a great open space with clean facilities. I highly recommend joining!
