Gym is okay if you want an average physic, but it still needs improvements to it, like more machines and benches, but it definitely need an upgrade in size

Clean pool and excellent temperature for swimming. It was disappointing to see some customers ignoring the no shoes in the changing room area.

Seriously patronising and poor business model that needs urgent attention. So overall this isn’t a bad leisure centre and if I were to base a review upon all facilities and ongoing it would likely get a 7/10, however, my 2 star review is based solely on the the element of swimming lessons. My son has been attending the centre now for quite some time. 2+ years for sure. He has come to the end of stage 5 and is definitely ready for stage 6. As parents we agreed a long time ago that he would need to complete stage 6 and then the choice would be his whether he continued or not. I understand the importance of swimming and the opportunities it can create. Not only for physical and mental wellbeing but career opportunities and advancements too. I spent years going through training in open water both as a qualified beach lifeguard in UK and Mediterranean waters but also coaching kayaking and canoeing in still and white water. Over the past months we have become very agitated with the companies ability to update the swim portal record and thus it feels like they’re holding children back where they should be progressing. This devalues the award status and acts as a blockage to staying motivated for the young person. It further makes the parents/carers feel they’re being used as cash cows. I understand I am not alone in this thought process through other parents voicing their concerns. It came to a period whereby we were so frustrated that several emails, phone calls and in person conversations happened over several weeks and we were then promised; absolutely assured that he would this week be tested and moved up. Around came the time. A standby teacher was there and didn’t assess him. We were phoned by the newly appointed swim manager who frankly was full of excuses, no apologies or ways to move forwards offered and it was left to me to move the conversation forwards because of lack of substance. This manager actually rudely/patronisingly asked me on the phone what would I know. I’m sure 99% of the public wouldn’t have my experience but equally I wouldn’t as a manager or frankly a human being put on them that question in such a passive aggressive tone and manner. Seriously unprofessional. She further argued that my experience wasn’t the same as pool lifeguarding and assessments; I encourage this person to look at both the physical and educational requirements for passing both pool and beach lifeguards and decide if they should’ve refrained from even considering having that debate. Further excuses of staff calling in sick after she’d left work that day etc etc etc. Look as business owners/managers of business it’s imperative that we own our mistakes and have solutions or offers in place to with an apologetic approach and attitude. You have not done this. I offered to keep my son there if you don’t expect payment until you progress him. This wasn’t accepted. Cash cows. There’s no certainty; you’d already promised. I’ll be helpful for the sake of others. Create a WhatsApp group and have a white/black/marker board where important messages are placed and actioned. It’s not rocket science. We are reasonable people and would rather have come to some solution but you didn’t offer anything but cancellation. This loses the leisure centre around £350 for a year. Thanks and good day

The water in the pool is like getting into a cold bath, the showers are cold. This is causing me no end of problems especially with tummy chills and pain with my arthritis .
