Wasn’t best pleased when I was assaulted by checkout staff. Rang police who reviewed cctv footage and offered me the choice of pressing charges or offering the Asda staff member a CRN. I chose the latter. Still no apology from Asda.

"Beware the plastic bag police'! That's all I am saying. Horrible experience just trying to get a plastic bag in the basket self check out area. 4 staff standing around and I had to go to the til to ask for a bag. They seem more concerned about policing the bags than helping out. Need to do better asda Downpatrick.

Do Asda Downpatrick have a policy where they ask (almost) middle aged women for ID just for fun? I was in store today and was asked for ID for a bottle of wine, while also buying stuff for dinner, cleaning supplies and back to school stuff for my children. The lady who served me said ‘I’m sorry I know you’re obviously not under age but I have to ask you for ID’. I explained that I am 35 years old and was with my 13 year old daughter (having a 13 year old would be pretty impossible if I were under 18). She said again that she knew I wasn’t under age but she has to ask me for ID. Why? If you look at someone and know they are not under 25 why do you have to ask for ID? She told me I could try the self checkout and see if they would serve me?! How does that make sense? This is not the first time this has happened to me in this Asda but on this occasion I didn’t have my ID. My husband who is the same age as me has NEVER been asked for ID in this store. I left all the items (which came to over £50) and bought them in another shop. Which by the way didn’t ask me for ID. I think there needs to be a review of their policy.

When we went to the Asda in Downpatrick one of the sales team, Charlene, came to our aid at the self service till. She was very pleasant, helpful and engaging. Took care of us quickly and efficiently, leaving us happy with the service we received, ready to go back another day. Thank you Charlene for your sense of humour and patience. You helped to make our day.

The fruit and vegetables from this store are abysmal. Garlic sprouting on the shelves. Peppers moldy and slushing around in the packet. Marked as “Ready to eat” avocados that you’d need a chisel and a fork to consume if you dared. Terrible quality all around.

Recent "up-grade" has slowed things down even more at checkouts. How was replacing experienced staff with DIY scanning ever going to improve anything other than asda's profit margins??! Ridiculous that one can self scan around store in order to wait half an hour for a till. Smaller stores have there own scanners (and dedicated tills) why is Downpatrick so backward??

This former Safeway/Morrisons Store has a large clothes section, less food selection and no longer with a petrol station. And more self service check-outs then customer sales assistant attended check-outs
