We came here for Sunday dinner with my husband which was lovely and well worth the money. Nunzia served us and she was so lovely, friendly and helped get us extra things too. Thank you so much Nunzia. You’re a credit to the team!!

Basic but decent enough, helped by great staff. The front desk was rarely actually manned but there were enough people around to help check in. The room is dated with almost vintage furniture but the building is historic so what do you expect. My main complaints about room 4 are the stains in the sink, an oddly squeaky bath and a huge hole under the door. Having said that all that, the breakfasts are big, and it is very centrally located.

I booked 10 rooms for a fishing party, we were fishing at Grafham Water the accommodation was perfect. Comfy beds in super clean rooms. The staff accepted my request for an early breakfast on the Saturday. The meal for 24 people was served by 4 staff, all the meals were hot and nice portions. Would recommend this to all.

I spent a night there with my 93 year old gran. The rooms were spacious and the bed comfortable. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed. Really excellent service. The breakfast was lovely - a good variety of tasty choices. My gran ordered off menu, as she couldn't manage a full breakfast, and they provided exactly what she wanted. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff make this hotel exceptional. All are warm, friendly, helpful, caring, and genuinely, and I can't do enough for you. Cleanliness is outstanding in every area of the hotel. The dining room for our evening meal was lovely. Breakfast and dinner was beautiful; presented well and cooked perfectly. Incredibly comfortable bed! Great parking which is included in hotel stay. Unfortunately, the aesthetics let the hotel down dramatically. The decor and furniture are dated and tired. There was visible damage to the bath exterior in my room, bathroom tiles have been replaced in a section above the bath, which obviously, don't match the rest. The dark wood, old furniture in the bedroom is scratched and faded in areas, and the curtains look old, dark, and have loose edges on the tie-backs. Window frames in the bedroom were in a bad condition and require sanding back and repainting. I was unable to open the windows, however, the street was quite noisy quite late at night and from around 0500

Good location. Within walking distance from the train station. Also, very close to the town centre which is good for shopping and pubs and restaurants. Unfortunately, as it is an old building there's no lift or escalator. So it can be quite tedious to carry a heavy luggage because all the rooms are on the upper level. Otherwise, everything is perfect.

The pint Diet Coke is a good value, but a keen eye has to watch any cooking. There is a tendency to over cook fried foods, almost like the fryer isn't being monitored or the cook has limited experience with frying. The food has a good presentation, but on my last visit my chicken strips & Halloumi fries were near burnt. I should have sent them back. Service is pretty good, but the wait staff seem moderately stressed or anxious. The location is warm & convenient. Very traditional.

Lunched here with a friend today and we were both so impressed with the food, service and ambience. Every member of staff we spoke to were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised at the modest bill. The setting was lovely (dining area to the left of the bar), although the decor was a little tired, the tables were beautifully presented and it was spotless. We left feeling really good about our experience and as ladies who do lunch, will most assuredly be back. Thank you all.
