Another fabulous course at WestDean College. The venue, the tutors, the staff, all are top notch. The collegiate atmosphere is always refreshing, challenging, and relaxing.
Week long course at West Dean was a pleasure. The on suit room was modern, functional, and clean and the food was excellent. The course was a real joy and I have every intention of returning in 2026.
My tutor was extremely welcoming, helpful and enthusiastic about his speciality. I gained everything I'd hoped for and more from the short course and enjoyed every moment. The college itself, as well as the vast grounds, is such a beautiful place and allowed me to really switch off from the daily grind and focus on my studies. It's a very warm, comfortable building with cozy bedrooms and lots of places to sit and relax or read, and the food was fabulous. All of the staff were lovely too. It was an all-round fantastic experience.
I just came back from a printing course from Mary Dalton, who is an absolutely wonderful tutor. She had a group of ten, from experienced people who had taken her courses before, to novices with no printing experience, but she gave everyone new techniques, and increased confidence and skills, which resulted in outstandingly good final outputs. Mary also skilfully encouraged friendship and cooperation within the group, so everyone learned from everyone else, and this developed conversations and supportive chats both inside and outside the studio. It was one of the best courses I've ever taken at West Dean. By the way, the kitchen and dining staff were uniformly cheerful, friendly, and just wonderful!
My experience at West Dean College for a four day course was very positive. The course tutor was excellent, the grounds and facilities are beautiful and the food was great too. I learnt a great deal from the amazing tutor and met some really nice people in my group. The woman in the art supplies shop was also very friendly and helpful.
Fabulous arts college. Excellent tutors. Wonderful to stay on site and get away from it all. I’ve done 6 courses now and the standard is brilliant. It’s really fun to spend time with like minded people in a beautiful setting
Attended a brilliant chair caning course with tutor Rachael South. The venue is a gorgeous mansion house set in wonderful grounds. Everyone was very welcoming. I didn't stay in the house but I was told the rooms were great. Food was also good.
What a fabulous place. My first visit but I will be back. I am new to painting but did the Beginners Sketchbook course and loved it - The tutor, Kate Boucher, was fantastic. The building is beautiful and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Especially in the restaurant. The food is lovely and I had the best chocolate brownie ever. Can't wait to return. As a user of a mobility scooter, I found the building really accessible. The art room is on the first floor and has a chair lift up the stairs.
My online course was excellent. Beautifully paced with enjoyable assignments. Just challenging enough with scope to do your own thing. Having six weeks access to the course made it easy to fit the work into a busy schedule.
I just spent a weekend at West Dean on a short course learning to draw. The venue is a beautiful historic house set in extensive gardens. Everything about the course exceeded my expectations: my room, the food, the ambience, the tuition and the other participants. Nothing was too much trouble for the West Dean staff. Thank you!
