Whitakers made the selling of my father's home after he passed away to much easier than I expected it to be. Right from the beginning they were so quick to respond and get the house up for sale. There were multiple viewings but whitakers dealt with them all for me which made the process so hassle free. My estate agent, Leanne, has been so incredible. She gave me constant updates every week, I never had to chase her for them. The solicitors in the chain were a bit slow but Leanne was constantly chasing them for updates for me and without her efforts, I think the process would have taken even longer. Leanne really has been great and a pleasure to work with.
A very professional group of people from the first meeting and valuation to through every step of the viewings and sale process I could not fault the agent Leanne and the company’s communications, they made the whole process very easy and less stressful.
I have just sold my late mother's house. The staff at Whitakers Anlaby branch were excellent throughout the process. As I live about three hours drive away from Hull, it was much appreciated that Whitakers could deal with all the viewings. I was always promptly informed of times of viewings , their feedback and any offers made. I found the staff very supportive in achieving a sale.
People say that moving home is one of the most stressful times of your life, however I disagree after all the care that was received from all those at the Whitakers Anlaby branch. Very efficient and proactive.
The whole team at Whitaker's have been outstanding, but we were especially supported by Catherine and Helen who went out of their way to help us through a very difficult house move. We would certainly recommend the Anlaby team to friends.
Although Whitakers Sales Team seems to be receiving good reviews, we cannot recomment the Lettings Team. During our tenancy, we dealt with a burst pipe (no water), a broken boiler (no heating) and rain water in the living room (damage to our furniture and damp living conditions) and we were never able to resolve any, even the urgent issues, in a timely manner. Every time, calling Whitakers' Lettings Team, they promise to call back in the afternoon with a solution and never do. Resolving any issue in our rented property dragged on, no matter how urgent. Checking out of the property, no one came to check (as recommended by DPS). Instead we were sent a report a week later, identifying some issues (cleaning the oven, removing a shoe rack, returing a CO alarm - which was clearly still present and visible in their own pictures...). We would have been happy to resolve this ourselves. However, the time span to clean the property was set to 19-27th of December - no chance to extend this by 3 days. We were not in Hull over Christmas and suggesting to spend our Christmas holidays cleaning is unreasonable. Finally, in a later email, we were confronted with the following statement to pressurise us into accepting the cleaning quote (email from 23.12.2022 11:46): "If [the quote is] declined, the balance of the deposit not claimed by the landlord (if any) will be refunded to you by the DPS and the remaining balance claimed will go to dispute". You would expect a letting agent to know that a landlord cannot simply claim the tenants' deposit without their approval. If landlord and tenant disagree, the full amount goes into DPS dispute. I would have expected a lettings team to be impartial and not resort to unprofessional empty threats.
We didn't have the easiest of sale/buying process. Initially having our property valued in November 2021, we sold our house in the first week of going to market, however through no fault of Whitakers, our onward purchase fell through followed by our buyer pulling out. We eventually got sorted and moved on 28th October 2022. Throughout what could have been a horrendous situation, Whitakers were on hand every step of the way, and we truly thought that we had someone in our corner guiding us through the sale and purchasing process. From the very first honest valuation, to the sale and communication throughout the 11 month process we was in constant communication. I cannot thank Whitakers enough for helping us sell our first home and purchasing our dream house.
As a first time buyer purchasing on my own, I expected this to be a very stressful experience but from start to finish was about as stress free as buying a house could be! Harry kept me updated on a regular basis and I was very confident about the progression of the sale. I have already recommended that friends and family who are looking to buy, give extra thought to Whitakers due to the outstanding level of service.
